I'd say to give him £20 for the whole day (or $20, where ever you live). I think a teenager will be more than happy with that. Let's be honest, he's not expected to cook, clean up houses or do other housewifey things. Just look after your son, make sure he comes to no harm and give him a spot of lunch.

Easy work for £20.

I think it depends on how much attention your son needs and where you live. I know that I would not pay no teen $7 dollars an hour to watch my daughter..... The teens that I have watch my children is usually 2-3 dollars an hour per kid. Its not like they are actually with the kid every second.

Try to get a daily or weekly rate rather than hourly and you can save some money. Ask the teen or his mother what he/she thinks is a fair price because $7 an hour is alot for a teenager. In my experiences babysitters (especially teens) get less then minimum wage.

Be sure to make frequent calls to the house

It depends on how much you make
Suppose you make 20 dollars an hour

40/45 for an great/excellent job
30/35 for a normal/good job

Probably about 6 or 7 an hour. 8 year olds are not that hard to watch. Plus, he will have a playmate as well.

I would imagine the going rate is different all over, but I would give $20 cash a day. Thats $100 a week cash.....pretty good. Thats more than I make a week.
