I am not saying that i am a dishonest person because i believe in telling the truth the majority of the time but in certain situations i believe it is better to hide the truth then to hurt someone's feelings whom you care about!I will give you a few examples: Situation # 1 You go out to the bar one night and have a few too many drinks and you end up going home with your cousin who is also your good friend's ex boyfriend, you wake up the next morning knowing without a doubt that you made a mistake and you truely regret it..do you tell your friend right away or do you keep it a secret and hope she will never ever find out?Situation # 2 you meet and fall in love with a guy and in telling him about your past relationships you don't admit to how many sexual partnerrs you had because he had just the one and you know if you tell him the truth he wouldn't think you were so great and would probably leave you...do you say you only had 3 when in fact it was 10 or risk it and tell the truth?

hi,OK there's nothing that you can do to change the past.don't dwell on the past.its gone.what you did yesterday you can not change even if you wanted to.so move on.if i were you i would just let the past be the past there is no since in hurting someone when you cant undo whats been done.on the part on the sexual partners again that is your past its gone it is best to keep the # to yourself BC it would only cause him to be jealous.and wonder all the time if you would mess around ,so let the past die BC it is dead anyway, good luck.

Well, honesty is not always the best policy, but in the examples you gave, imho you should be honest about these situations. You may hurt people you care about, but you will hurt them more in the long run by being dishonest about these important events. 1.) Everyone is human and makes mistakes. 2.) Everyone has different perspectives on past partners, and cannot reasonably demand that everyone have the same life that they have.

Being dishonest in these important instances can easily lead to being dishonest in more cases, and lead to a life full of lies, which is often paid for with bad karma.

The situations that I think it's ok to be dishonest are these: You go out gift shopping for your significant other, when they ask you where you were, you might say that you went to the record store with a friend.

Or, when a close friend confides a secret in you. Maybe they tell you how they really feel about another person. If that person then asks how they feel about them, saying 'I don't know' would be an ok response.

If you did not have anything to do with your cousin then why should it bother you if your friend knows that you were at his place? What was the Mistake? The two of you are cousins, FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!! And about your second question, It is best to tell your true love the truth, because when you don't all of those little lies that you had told will come back to haunt you one day!!!! If he gets upset and can not except what had happened in your past experiences then he should Go his merry - o - way!!!!! He had a past life also! I'm sure there were things in his past that he is not very proud of!!!!!!
Good Luck!!!

U should always tell the truth but u don't always have 2 get into too much detail. Lying just creates a big mess. If your not comfortable telling a truthful answer u could always find away to avoid answering.

why lie the truth will come out soon r later not all things u need to let others know but if they ask then tell them if they dont ask then dont say. it`s not like telling a lie they just never asked. lieing will only hurt u in the long run no one likes a lier & there is never a good reason to have to lie.if u to sham to admit what u done then why do it from the start.

Here's a life lesson: don't do thinks that you feel you would have to lie about. If you need to hide something it means you're ashamed of it. If you're going to be ashamed of it, don't do it.

The real question here is about your self esteem. Why do you have to get drunk and sleep with your own cousin? Why do you feel you have to hide your past from someone you think that you're in love with? Why don't you feel that you deserve a relationship based in truth and trust?

My wife had never been with anyone before me, but I told her everything about my past. To do anything else would be to treat her like a child and to start a relationship based on deception.

hold on, your cousin?!

i believe in honesty. it keeps everything simple. if the truth is just too much for the other person, then they're just not worth developing a deeper relationship (true friend, best friend, bf/gf...those stuff) with other than friends .

I'd tell her and then I'd take a shower. Just tell him the truth, that way you won't feel bad later on.
