To answer your question, each and every woman is different and each and every woman will gain a different amount of weight during pregnancy. Even a woman who has had one pregnancy and gained X amount of weight can gain something totally different during another pregnancy. You should not be so focused on how much weight you'll gain and how to get it off. You will miss out on the beatuy of pregnancy. Understand that what you will gain has alot to do with your weight pre-pregnancy and your height but that is not to say that you might gain more or less. Your doctor will montior your weight gain throughout your pregnancy to ensure everything is "normal" if for any reason they feel you are not gaining enough weight or your gaining to much weight then they will discuss this with you and come up with a plan. Not gaining enough weight or gaining to much can be dangerous to you and the baby. Also understand that much of the weight gain during pregnancy is contributed by the following: Baby - 7 1/2 lbs depending on when you deliver, amniotic fluid, placenta, extra body fluids & blood - 8 to 12 lbs and your uterus and breasts get bigger adding 4 - 6 lbs. Also, watching what you eat is very important. Eating a healthy balanced diet will help ensure you gain the right amount of weight for your pregnancy.
As for excerising it is recommended and encouraged during pregnancy. There are many benifits to excerising during pregnancy, just be sure to disucss any excerise plans with your doctor to ensure that they are o.k. to do while pregnant. I took belly dancing while pregnant, after checking with my doctor. It was great, low impact and helped keep my abdominal muscels toned.
During my pregnancy I gained an extra 40+ lbs. I didn't stress about it. I felt great, eat right and knew that my body was adding the pounds that I needed for a healthy pregnancy. My sister was pregnant at the same time I was and even though we started with a similar pre-pregnancy weight she only gained 12 lbs. In the end we both had healthy babies. Now that your babies are a year old I'm below my pre-pregnancy weight (not where I intended to be). I did very little in the way excerising to lose the extra weight, (I would have been happy in keeping a couple extra pounds. I'm what the doctors class as underweight, and I don't choose to be there). I did do alot of walking with the baby to the park, mall etc. My sister is also down to her pre-pregnancy weight, she works out at a gym and finds she needs to work on tonning her stomach.
If you search the internet for weight gain, pregnancy you should come up with a bunch of helpful websites, articles etc. I like babycentre.com and marchofdimes.com
May I make a suggestion? You sound young so why are you thinking of having a baby in the near future? A baby is a HUGE responsibility something no one is ever truly ready for. They depend on you 24/7 and their needs, wants etc. are your priority. Your wants tend to take a backseat for the first little bit. I'm in my thirties and glad I waited to have a baby. I was mature, emotionally ready and financially ready to take on the responsibility of another person. You have your whole life ahead of you. Go ahead and live it...finish school, travel, get a great job you love etc. you'll know when your secure enough to bring another life into this world.

Grow up first, before you have a baby. You are so worried about what you look like and that you might put on a bit of weight that you won't be able to enjoy the beautiful side of pregnancy. You are not guaranteed to put on only 25 lbs. I might be more, it might be less. I was 105 when I got pregnant and I was 185 when I delivered. There was a lot of water weight with my son. I weighed 110 the day I left the hostpital with him. That was 12 years ago and we are both very happy and very healthy. I enjoyed my pregnancy and didn't worry about silly things like making sure I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight right after having the baby. I was actually a bit upset that right after my son was born, you couldn't tell that I had even been preggers. I wanted the entire world to know! When you can start thinking about things like, "will my baby be happy and healthy?" and "will my baby sleep through the nights or have his/her times flipped?" and so on, that's when you can start thinking about getting pregnant. Until then, you can stay skinny and not worry about a thing!
FYI: I am 5'7" and 135. I work out regularly and watch what I eat. I do this because obesity runs in my family as do many weight related health problems that I don't want to endure. But when I get pregnant again, I want to gain the weight and look as pregnant as possible and enjoy every last second of it!!!

The thing that worked for me was being in great shape BEFORE I ever got pregnant. I lost all my weight with in 2 days after having my 1st son with out doing a darn thing., my second son was a little over a week.
I've had 4 children total (I'm done now lol) Before I got preg. w/ my 1st I weighted 125.. Well after carrying 4 children over 6 years.. I'm not 125 anymore.. I'm 147! 3 years ago I was 159.
I hate my belly fat I have but gotta admit It could be worse! I'm in a size 9 levis. I would love to lose 10-20 lbs... For me I don't really go by weight.. I go by how I look & what size I'm wearing.
The one thing I noticed is that I carried my boys differently than my girls.
My 2 girls I got really chubby with all around & were hell on my body! I wasn't eating different .. but will admit I wasn't quite as active/in shape.. as I use to be.
Stay active after you have your child. Don't just become a couch ma ma... Take the kid & go for a walk in the park. Do Weight lifting, stuff like that....
However I do agree, don't worry about your weight when you get prego.. The baby is definatly worth the few extra pounds you may keep on! Besides you can always work off the weight.. It is not the end of the world!

When you are pregnant, keep working out and eating healthy. This way you won't gain a ton of fat. If you do this then, while you will get heavier cause of the baby itself, you won't gain a lot of fat. Then once the baby is born, exercise more (pushing the stroller up and down the block, for starts).
Right up until about 3 weeks before the baby was due, my friend use to work out all the time and teach/do an hour spinning (cycling) class. She was in pretty great shape when she was pregnant and got her figure back almost immediately after the baby.

If you eat healthfully and work out moderately while you are pregnant (provided you have a normal pregnancy, you should be able to walk, swim, etc.), you should be able to lose the weight fairly easily. Everyones pregnancy is different, though. You can't assume you will only gain 25 pounds. I gained 40 pounds when I had my first son, but I lost it all in about 8 months. With my second, I was more careful about what I ate and only gained 30, which I also lost in less than a year.
Just don't worry about your weight. Worry more about having a safe, healthy pregnancy. The weight will come off in time. It's really not that big of a deal. If you are more concerned about gaining wieght than you are in what is best for your unborn child, you might want to wait to get pregnant. Good luck.

You'll be swollen for a few weeks after the baby is born. So relax til the swelling is gone. Breast feeding will help alot with losing the weight and it's healthier for the baby too.. DO NOT WORK OUT WHILE PREGNANT. It could cause you to miscarry. Once you get the ok from the Dr. to work out again then have a field day. Just don't do anything that could hurt you or the baby, be smart about it.

Not every woman is guaranted to put on 25 lbs. Some maybe more than others. You can however go into the gym during pregnancy and do some toning and conditioning exercises. Nothing too strenuous. After you have your baby, you can then start to work on your abs by stretching and bending. Yoga is a very good low impact form of exercise.

Not everyone is the same. I have a friend who weighed 110 lbs pre-pregnancy, and after delivering the baby she walked out of the hospital only with 5 lbs more than before she was pregnant (115 bs). Sh lost that days latr with minimal effort.
I have gaioned lots of weight during my pregnancies, on the other hand. To loose it you have to watch what you eat and exercise.
Working out when pregnant is not always advisable, but you can check with your doctor. You should exercise, walk, but nothing too drastic.
Good .luck!

you will be lucky if thats all you gain most of that is water and you lose it in the first week after delivery. doing exersizes while you are pregnant is good but not working out streneously..and you can do exersizes after the baby comes to tone and trim the tummy
use a good lotion on the tummy to keep strech marks down
