I used to wonder about Oprah because she never married Stedman and had such a close friendship with Maya Angelou (who is gay). But anymore, I think she is just very career-oriented and doesn't give much thought to sex at all. (unless it is the topic on her show).

PS - for the record, many good, successful people are gay - I'm suprised at how many people think it's not a possibility because she is such an icon... these are the same people that believe that Ricky Martin is straight because his teeth are so white... LOL

I don't think so - just best friends. According to them it would not matter either way as they would be open about it. These days it is no surprise anymore -although I would be shocked!!

article from CNN:
"I understand why people think we're gay," she says. "There isn't a definition in our culture for this kind of bond between women. So I get why people have to label it -- how can you be this close without it being sexual?"

In a long article, Winfrey, 52, and King converse about their 30 years of friendship and "four-times-a-day phone calls."

The two friends say they would have no problem telling the public if they were in a sexual relationship.

"The truth is, if we were gay, we would tell you, because there's nothing wrong with being gay," says King.

Says Winfrey: "Something about this relationship feels otherworldly to me, like it was designed by a power and a hand greater than my own. Whatever this friendship is, it's been a very fun ride."

Tell it to her boyfriend! Oprah is NOT gay. People just have to ask because they aren't used to women staying good friends. If you don't act like Paris and Nicole (suddenly end your friendship after 20 yrs), then you obviously must be gay right? duh... Women can be good friends, loyal, and caring towards one another without @#$%ing each other in the bedroom. Get a clue media!

I would say no. I think if she were gay, she would say so. She has opend up about some pretty traumatic stuff, so why would she not admit to being gay???? I think it is really cool that she has had the same bff.
