We are going on our honey moon on Sept. 24th and flying out of Mephis to Jamaica. The Airline is Northwest Airlines, and I heard that the workers are going on strike. We've already had so much trouble out of the airline. They changed thier flight schedule and now instead of leaving out of the Louisville airport we have to drive to Memphis on the wedding night to get on a plane there, so it wouldn't interfere with our reservations at the resort.
Would the strike affect my flight, or should it be over by then?

We can't really change airlines with out paying more money than we can afford right now (weddings are expensive!) We got the tickets in a package deal through a travel agent and we would loose our 850 dollar deposit to change the plans that where already set months in advance.
PS The travel insurance doesn't cover the airline.

Did you book your flight through an agency, if so they should do everything in their power to get this all straightened out for you.

I couldn't tell you if the strike is going to be over , but I can tell you that if you are heavily inconvenienced because they changed the itinerary than they need to get flight from Louisville to Memphis. If you don't tell them the problem this causes they wont let you know this. You need to call NWA and tell them your situation .Tell them there is no way for you to get to Memphis and what can they do for you.
Own Experience :Airline strikes are internal . Most airlines have to get you on another carrier to get you where you need to go.Another thing you can try is tell them the changing of airports is making you cancel your trip and you want a full refund. If it was purchased as a package you'll be refunded the air only portion. And then use another airline .

Hopefully it'll be over by then. That's a month away, and airlines do not like to be on strike, they will probably do whatever it takes to make sure they're flights are on schedule.

Honestly? If I were you, I would try to change your flight if possible...I had problems like that when United went on strike a few years ago and it was a nightmare..the employees were all rude and didnt care about passengers...there were no pillows, blankets, snacks nothing, all because they were cutting costs & the workers were on strike. Good luck though!

What is the website for Northwest Airlines saying. If so, rebook with another airline.

Northwest has been on strike for months now, this is nothing new. There won't be any issues with your flight as they have been operating for several months now with other personnel.

First, congratulations to you and your beau.
Now for my answer: YAHOO! answers respondents have no crystal ball. Our collective guess: half might say it'll be over, and half say not.
In any case, I (we all) wish you luck for smooth sailing.
