I heard a rumour that if you put hot water onto coffee granules before milk, it can impair the flavour, is this true?

If your talking about instant coffee, dont worry. That hot water is fine a will only make those granuels dissolve better. Most coffee burn happens when a pot of coffee sits on a warmer for too long and tastes "burnt".

You can burn coffee, but putting hot water into instant coffee granules before adding milk to it as a creamer is how most people do it in the first place.

Coffee has suspended solids which can and will burn when exposed to heat. That's why I don't drink coffee at most gas stations and fast food joints.

Policy is to remake your coffee for free if you're unhappy with it. You must have been quite mean to tick off the manager enough to not do that for you. That's slightly unreasonable that you'd want the Barista to be FIRED just because your drink didn't taste perfect. It happens sometimes. The shots for your drink may not have been pulled at the right timing (this is the fault of the machine, but the machine should be calibrated every now and then.) While I cannot speak about ALL of them, the Baristas are pretty kickass for the most part. I think you're being a little too critical.

Boiling water can burn your coffee. If making coffee with a french press or other non-automatic drip methods, let the water cool for a minute after boiling before pouring over the coffee grinds.

True. If you leave the kettle for a minute after boiling, doesn't have as bitter a taste. Especially if you drink it black. Ever had a bitter coffee from a coffee shop? (who hasn't!!!) better than likely chances are that the water thermostat in the machine is too high and burns the coffee.

Yes. And if you keep the coffee on heat too long, it starts tasting sort of burned.

You can burn the beans if you roast them for too long or over too high heat.
