They think everyone should think like them, some Christians spend a lot of time trying to convert people and probably feel you are being a traitor by converting.
I'm not religious, but read a lot about most of religions and Buddhism seems to be the one that resonates most as it is peaceful and concentrates on being the best you can, whereas others try to scare you into following their rules.
If a friend had dropped you because they found out you were gay, they weren't a good friend and you are better off without them - same thing applies to religion.
Best wishes.

Christianity is a very aggressive religion, their way or the highway.
Not the most compassionate of religions and very intolerant of others. The God they appear to worship is vengeful and petty, though I am sure that God must be mightily cheesed off at them by this misrepresentation.
I am Pagan and get told I will burn all the time, because I don't toe the holy line.
I do not fear this because my God is kind and loving, besides why would he want to hurt me when I strive to be just like him?
As for the Gay thing, this is because the church has not moved on with the times.
Love and Light

First of all, on behalf of Christians, I'd like to apologize to you if we have caused u to feel unwanted or unwelcome in our presence. I'm sorry and I hope you can forgive us if this has happened. We are human and as humans we are naturally prone to weakness, prone to shun that which makes us uncomfortable. And alot of us have not yet learned how to separate what we see as flaws from the individual, therefore we find ourselves becoming "strange and hostile" toward you. I guess this would be called throwing out the baby with the bath water. But this is wrong. And it's rooted so deep in our nature as proud humans that many times we don't even recognize that we're doing it. But please understand that not all of us Christians are like that. I have homosexual friends and it's taken me a while not to react the same way to their lifestyle as you've experienced. And I've learned alot from them and I care about them deeply even though the Bible says that their lifestyle is wrong. As imperfect as we are, our redemption is in the fact that we can each learn (with God's grace) to love unconditionally.

I don't think that's necessarily a Christian trait, I think it's just the Christian's you've encountered. I'm Christian, and I believe there is a lot of value in Buddhism and my partner mostly follows Buddhist beliefs and values (as much as he is anything really).
I think a lot of people feel their way is the only way, and it's not that you've become Buddhist that's the problem to them, but more that you aren't a Christian, therefore, in their eyes, you must be a sinner. It's sad, but please know, not all Christians think that way.

Because deep down they know that Buddhism is better, and they know that the current manifestation of Christianity is so flawed that they want to turn their back on it but their Christian 'friends' won't let them.

They are uneducated in the ways of God . Homosexuality is an abomination to God and there is only one place for them . Revelation 21:8 , 1st Corinthians 6:9-10

For some reason they believe that they are the only ones who are right, and everyone else (so any other religion) is on the wrong path and should be converted. (I don't mean to offend anyone but that's the impression I've got)

Are you sure that they weren't strange and hostile before? Sometimes we have to step outside the box to see inside of it.

Buddhism is a great religion. It is very open and accepting as the primarily focus in on being a good person.
Christians (and other western religions) are about control and manipulation. If you're not with them then you're against them. It's sad.

So many Christians are hypocrites - claiming follow the teachings of Jesus, yet He specifically said "Do not judge, lest you be judged." Christians do more judgeing than anyone I know.
