Why are there so many different denominations and sects in Christianity? Don't you think it would be better if we didn't have any of that?

yes i do because i believe a lot of time people get so caught up in different denomination and arguing about it and they get so caught up in pleasing that denomination sometimes they forget all about God instead they are working to please other people

A number of the world’s "religions’" and philosophers’ wisdoms have been the basis for our "rules of conduct".

If we look at what most of those wisdoms have in common we find that the qualities of compassion and forgiveness are the most prevalent recommendations for “human” behavior in all the serious “religions”.

Unfortunately, they are not easy to incorporate in our “normal” life. So we look for – and find! – the “loopholes” and use them to justify (= make something unjust appear “just”) our deviations from the basic message.

Jesus said that the two “first and foremost commandments" are: to love God… and to love our neighbour – even if that neighbour is your enemy! Those two are the basis for all other laws. Any interpretations deviating from those two are invalid.

Anybody who does follow those two laws (no matter what “religion” or “denomination”) will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Trouble is we don’t. We are NOT perfect. That’s why we have the various “religions” and “denominations”, to accommodate OUR various views on what is “good” and what is “evil” according to OUR OWN interpretations instead of listening to Christ’s words, THE TRUTH.

However, there are lately serious movements toward Ecumenism. Which is a sign of hope. Maybe it will also help to promote the BASICS for human relations: compassion AND forgiveness.

Creed books, priests, nuns, instrumental music, worshipping the pope or any other human, worshipping Mary, baptizing babies, etc... Those are not found in the Bible. Indeed, if the Bible is the perfect law of liberty, then why use a creed book? Why keep adding to or taking away from God's Word? Because they wanted things done their own way, so they adopted their own traditions and sanctions. So many of their practices are anything but Biblical. Todays Christians are to use the New Testament. In order to be a true Christian, one born of water, you must follow the steps to salvation: Steps of Salvation
Hear - Rom 10:17
Believe - Heb 11:6
Repent - Acts 2:38
Confession - Matt 10:32-33
Baptism - Mark 16:16
Live faithfully - Revelation 2:10; Romans 5:1-2

Failure to do so, is not being in the Lord's church. You're not a Christian unless you're in the Lord's church. You're not in the Lord's church unless you've been baptized(and baptism is immersion-not sprinkling or pouring). And also, where in God's Word can you find the Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Jehovah's witnesses church? There is only one church, Christ's church. And he said to Peter "Upon this rock I will build MY church".. I see nothing of any other church but Christ's there... Mankind grew tired of following what God had instructed and devised their own traditions and such. In doing so they either added to or took away from God's Word, which then in turn may have took their name out of the Lamb's Book of Life...

There are so many different denominations out there because of man's ongoing failing to understand the fact that there is "ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all who is above all, through all, and in you all." Mankind, since Adam and Eve's first act of religion (sewing fig leaves to hide their shame), has long since tried to add to or take away from God's Word through their OWN understanding of what God is trying to say rather than step up and be accountable (as we're all going to do on Judgment Day anyway)! They want to take the "easy parts" of God's Word that they can spiritually digest, put it in a box wrapped in guesswork and supposition instead of absorbing Spirit-led preaching and teaching and following God's salvation plan and living a sanctified life, and call it "God's will" or "God's Word". The denominations were bred from allegory, misinterpretation, apathy, and plain old lack of conformity and obedience.

Hello. Mankind decided that they wanted thier own doctrine connected with the bible which is unstable because God will not except religions into his Kingdom but only true faithful individuals and not denominations.

The different groups came about because of disagreements within the Protestant Church. Distance and differences caused splits and groups began to form and to declare their opinion. the Bible says that sectarianism is a sin. We are not to say I am from this church I will have no part of you if you don't attend my church.
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and [that] there be no divisions among you; but [that] ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

1Cr 1:11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them [which are of the house] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

1Cr 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

1Cr 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

because there are so many different kinds of people that may agree on some things but differ on others and can't seem to work on the things that they agree on.I think that we should all concentrate on what we agree on and not on what we don't

Every business should have competition.

Why did you butcher the word sister and not the word brother?
