You don't. You give them a litter box INSIDE and show them where it is. Pretty simple!

Just to be sure, have your cat spayed and you won't have worry about the cleanup!

Depending on what your yard is like, it may be difficult. If you have very sandy soil, should be no problem. Cats like going in loose soil naturally. If you have hard baked clay, and they can't cover it up, they will be upset.

First, you replace your litter with sandy soil. Use that for a few days, to get them used to it.

Then, move your litter box by the door you would let them out of. Do that for a couple days.

Next, move the litter box outside the door for a few days, in the area you want them to use.

Then, remove the litter box. They will do what comes naturally.

However, I will warn you that although just having your cats go outside sounds like a great way to go, cat urine smells bad. Really bad. It lingers a very long time. And if they go near your house, you will smell it everywhere outside and when you open your windows. If your cats start using your neighbor's property, you may really find it would have been easier to scoop the litter every day. Good luck!

I have found it is easier to train them to go outside if u put the litter box outside for a while and in about a month after he starts going to the door take it away. Your kitten should take the hint hopefully my 3 did.

The same way you'd train them to use a litter box indoors. Give them access to it and praise them when they use it. It's an instinct for cats.

However, I have to ask; why are you letting kittens go outside? Cats live much longer if they're indoor pets, and unless you have a cat flap to let them out when you're not home, you can't expect a cat who lives mainly indoors to only go to the bathroom outside. There are lots of dangers of having your cat roam outside, and it's not worth it. Get a litter box (one per cat +1) and keep the kitties and their box(es) indoors.

All I did was start moving the litter box closer to the door once a week, and then I finally moved it outside, and then your done. They will go to the door when they want out. That what worked for me. Hope it helps.

Some times mom will show the kittens, but you can take kitty to the litter box every hour or so and they will smell and scratch around and it comes to them quite naturally most times. Some kitty need a bit of extra time in learning. Good luck!

Cats are practically born trained. They like to bury their business so that they don't scare off their prey.

If they are outdoor cats they will learn or minic a an older outdoor cat, that's what my outdoor cat did. He learned by minicing his best friend, Simba, he lives next door.
