i'm starting to feel closer and closer to a coworker of mine. He challenges me intellectually, which makes me emotionally and physically attracted to him. I work in a very professional setting and I'm not sure how to handle myself around him any longer.

Any ideas on how I should handle this?

Bad idea.... been there done that (more than once) with some ladies at my work. Although I have to say it was fun.... actually it can be fun depending on both of your expectations and if BOTH you guys are single.
Ahhh, you only live once.. let it flow. Maybe after a hard day at work and after he invites you out for a cocktail. But make sure you weigh the consequences. If something happens, is it going to damage your career? Is he going to tell all his buddies making it super uncomfortable for you? Think about that.

How does your workplace feel about coworkers getting together? If there's a policy against it, don't do anything. If there is no policy--and this coworker is available--then just keep working together, talking, enjoying getting to know each other. If he's attracted to you too, there will be opportunities for you two to get together. Be friendly, but don't pursue him at work. You can ask him if he'd like to get together after work some time, but don't react badly or make him explain himself if he declines.

In general, do your best to be yourself, and treat him like you do everybody else. Be warm, friendly, and involved in the conversation when the moments arise. Don't ever flirt in a work meeting or work group situation, but if he seems to be flirting when it's just the two of you, it's okay to flirt back.

If you are both single and you believe he feels the same way, do it. Office romances can be tricky but if you are both on the up and up it could work out well. I would make it a point not to sleep with him until you have a good idea where the relationship is going.

Before it goes any further you should look into how your HR department views personal relationships in the workplace.
Some companies you cannot have relationships if one person is supervisor over another.
