You're gettin' comments anyway...read or not, as you please.

Don't bother trying to lose that much in a week (it's foolish, I've been there, I know)...they won't stay off and you'll just be harming yourself. You will cause your metabolism to screech to a halt, and just smelling food will put weight on you.

Losing more than about 3 lbs a week is considered too fast to be healthy or to stay off for very long.

Eat right, put your calories at about 1500 a day, and exercise daily for about an hour. You'll lose weight, feel good, and when you reach your goal, you can add some calories back (and some fun food) but keep working out regularly so the lost pounds stay lost.

Here's hoping you do it the right way...your health is too important to damage over 13 silly pounds...

There are 3,500 calories in one pound. Therefore, to lose 13 lbs over 7 days you would have to BURN 45,500 calories. And in order to accomplish that you would therefore have to cease to ingest anything during those 7 days (I'm talking like ... nothing passing your lips - not even water) + you'd have to work out like a maniac to release the water that your body is already storing, through sweating and getting your heart rate into a cardio training zone (somewhere between 150-175 dependent upon age & fitness level).

But then again, if you're not eating or drinking you'd be severely dehydrated and have zero energy. You will cease to have bowel movements, your stomach will start to overproduce acid b/c it has no food to break down (which could lead to an ulcer) and most likely, by the fourth or fifth day of this kind of madness, you'd simply pass out based on all of the aforementioned things and end up in the hospital with an IV in your arm. At the end of the week you won't have lost 13 lbs because your metabolism will cease to function and therefore, will stop burning anything, and you could have irreparable damage done to some vital organs like your kidneys and liver.

I'd say at max you could lose 10 lbs using this method.

One pound is 3,500 calories. The average person burns about 2,000 - 2,500 calories a day, so ... if you eat nothing, you will burn about 4 pounds of fat in a week, plus lose any weight due to contents of your stomach and intestines (a few more pounds). In order to lose 13 pounds you would need to work out 5+ hours a day, over the course of that week. (Which will be difficult with no food.) You can also lose weight by taking diuretics, to eliminate water from your system, but that is just a quick fix temporary solution. Dehydration isn't really a great weight-loss plan (nor is starvation).

Zero calories.

Even then 13 lbs will not be lost in a week.

Your RMR (the amount of calories your body spends while resting) is usually around 2000 cal/day.

So assuming you consume zero calories for 7 days, the total calories expended would be 14000 cal. 1 lb of fat is 3500 cal. So you'll only lose 4 lbs for the week.

Of course you can exercise and spend some calories, but without eating anything I don't think its a good idea.

You might see more loss, but it is certainly muscle and water - not good for your body

Exactly.... you need to take in zero.

But that is not a healthy and definitly not an advisable way to attempt to lose weight. It's not natural for any body to lose 13 lbs in one week....let alone one month!

If you didn't want comments, you shouldn't have asked the question, by the way.

losing 13 pounds in one week is ridiculous. you would have to cut off an arm or leg. to safely lose weight cut your caloric intake down to around 1500-2000 calories a day. this way you can safely lose weight without risking your health. lots of fresh veggies, fruits, water and whole grains will help with a minimum of meat intake. avoid whole sugars and processed flours. keep your carbs simple such as grains fruits and veggies, eat fruit instead of fruit juices, take a daily vitamin and exercise exercise exercise...you might lose the most weight the first week and thereafter about 2 lbs a week is a safe loss...dont try the stinky fad diets out today...you are guaranteed to gain it back as soon as you go off the program..GOOD LUCK

250 calories = 1 lb
however you need at least 1000-1200 just to live. That being said, loosing 13 lbs in 1 week is incredibly dangerous and the recommended amount is 2 lbs per week as a maxium. If you feel the need to loose more, talk to a doctor or health specialist.

Wow, that much weight loss in one week is extremely dangerous. It is not healthy to lose more than 5 lbs in a week, and even that is a stretch if you are not larger to begin with. I recommend setting your sights a lot lower and being careful when trying to lose weight fast. It is not good for you and it almost never stays off.

You have to burn something like 3500 calories to lose just one pound, so burn more than you take in, that's a lot of calories to burn.

I think you should buy a coffin first.
Losing 13 pounds in a week is not healthy.
If you lose that much, you'll probably end up being more ugly because if you lose weight at that rate, FAT will be the LAST thing your body will lose. In fact, you may GAIN FAT because your body will try to conserve the resources it needs to survive.
