the problem on our southern boarder is not an immigration issue but yet an invasion!

If you look up the word immigration in the dictionary... It does not discribe what is happening down there. The defination of invasion best discribes it!

Everyone in this country (except the Native Americans) has immigrated here from somewhere. If not you... one of you ancestors did. I think we should embrace everyone who comes here thru the proper channels, and stop treating this issue as an immigration problem. We need to deal with it for what it is... An invasion!

I goto Mexico 3-4 times a year. I own a home there. Did you know that if you cross the boarder into mexico illeagly and get caught, there is a hefty jail sentance for doing so?

Folks, I'm not talking about the jobs that are given to these people (that is a big problem also) What I am talking about is the way our stupid government is dealing with it.

And to "theforce51" AKA "moron51" I own a home there so that I have a place to stay when I'm with my family! Don't tell me about poor people looking for a better life! I spent my childhood in a housing project outside of Cincinnati. I have worked hard for everything I have. Your right, I'm not working for slave wages! And they shouldn't have to either. If the problem was addressed properly, they wouldn't have to!

America has come to an agreement with itself, "Don't ask, don't tell". Rather than enforcing the immigration laws, governments have decided to allow illegal immigrants to provide a cheap workforce. This depresses the wages to the point where Americans wouldn't work for those rates.

If you want to enforce the law, then go after the employers. But, then you need to have a valid and final way for those employers to determine who is legal; otherwise, they would refuse to hire anyone who looked Mexican (also illegal!).

If you want to enforce the law, then de facto proof - you are in the country illegally - should be grounds for immediate deportation. Repeat offenders should be jailed for a term and then deported.

If you need cheap labour, to undercut Amercan workers and keep wages low (?) then set up a legitimate guest worker program. People who pass the tests and qualify, can come in and work - for say, 6 months each year (this forces employers to turn over staff, train other, and prefer permanent American workers). Their family stays home.

Part of the qualification would be an English proficiency test - "how badly do you want to work in the USA"? Another part - people caught in the country illegally and their immediate family are permanently ineligible for guest worker status (i.e. guest workers don't bring their family in). Employers pay a special tax for each guest worker hired.

After, say, 10 years of good work - you can apply for immigrant status. If there's too many, then you have a lottery to see which applicants win immigrant status.

Everyone wins.

Even those we call Native American, descended from people who immigrated here in the past.

I agree, what is taking place with illegal aliens in an INVASION, a WAR.... our politicians are aiding and abetting the illegal aliens in the commission of a crime and the continuation of that crime.

Writing letters, sending faxes, and voting are the options we have..... options that appear to have little effect on Congress.... it would appear that many politicians in Congress are totally CORRUPT concerning ILLEGAL ALIENS.

A harsh fine and 5 years in prison for those who hire illegal aliens would be a great step towards putting an end to this INVASION.

Yes, Mexico talks out both sides of its mouth and more out its azz. Hypocrisy is what Mexico practices.

I agree with you - Immigrants come to a new country legally, by applying and paying the necessary fees and undergoing a medical exam, etc. People who choose to not go through the filing process and come without the endorsement of the government, are invaders.

I live on the southern boarder and have seen what those freeloaders do. They take our jobs, yes they are jobs that "no one wants" but reality is those are jobs inexperienced and desperate people take, they destroy our property, freeload off of our taxes, etc. I am sick of seeing ignorant and stupid people wanting to accept them. I have no problem with immigration, but the whole world does it legally, immigrants from the southern boarder can do the same. It's not that hard.

well my opinion is that i think that the some americans are really stupid. when the jobs that the illegal immigrants are taking weren't taken the americans didn't care about the jobs and now just becuz it's an illegal immigrant comin to america to make a better life and gettin those jobs americans are mad. clearly to me some of the americans are just selfish and greedy and inconsiderate. the only immigrants that would be a problem are the ones tryin to harm the US which i really don't think any of them are.

Call it immigration or an invasion, what it really is is a plague, and we have to take every measure to stop it from coming here, and to eliminate the disease that has already infested out country!

The problem is not with the people crossing. It is the people providing the jobs. Once again they want really cheap labor. We need to bust their butts for it.

If the jobs dry up for illegal immegrants, so will the flow of them. Put the pasty butt white honky buttholes that hire them without documentation into the slammer.

If the immegrant uses false identification, then you already have a felony charge on them.

It is an invasion. Anyone who thinks that it isn't an invasion is fooling themselves.
