I am a young mother of four and have been seeing an oncologist for about 18 months my wbc is at 1.4 and my rbc is at 4.18 and my platelets are at 92 what could this, or what does this more than likely, mean for me??? I had a bone marrow biopsy done on 8/8/06 and are waiting for the results. Is there a possibility that what is going on with me is something other than some sort of cancer???

I don't know if you are receiving any chemo or radiation but I do know when I had my chemo treatments my wbc would go way down (one time .25) which led to hospital visits. Once I was in the hospital I had to receive Nepogen shots to increase the wbc, which sometimes would take a few days. You also should not be around anyone sick, fresh flowers and don't eat fresh fruit or vegetables actually you should be wearing a mask and avoid public places. If you would happen to get a cold it could be life threatening during this period. Also my platelets dropped low twice which led to platelet transfusions. It is very important to know when your platelets are low because you could have internal bleeding and not know it. Please do not think I am trying to scare you. I just want you to be aware of what is happening to your body. I know it is all very scary. I was 24 years old when I was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, which is a rare type of cancer with about 450 cases diagnosed per year. I also underwent a bone marrow biopsy and know how terrible it is and the wait only makes things worse. Please believe me when I say stay positive and be strong. I know it is very hard especially with children but they need you along with all the other people in your life. I don't know how religious you are but I strongly believe in the power of prayer. I had wonderful people and lots of prayers going out for me in my time of need. I also kept a positive attitude even at my weakest moments when I thought I could no longer fight but I kept my head up high with the support of all my loved ones and pulled through. It is very possible you don't even have cancer. Try not to jump to that conclusion even though I know it's almost impossible. It may be something totally different. I wish you and your children the very best. I will keep you all in my prayers. If I can be of more help please email me. Good Luck and God Bless.

The platelet count is a little low, this will give you an increase chance of bleeding.
The WBC count is very low, this will give you an increase chance of infection.
The RBC count looks okay but I would need to see your Hgb. The hemoglobin is more important than RBC.
Are you receiving chemotherapy or getting radiation to your bone marrow? Either of these could cause this anemia. You should talk to the doctor about the WBC.

Could be liver fuinction or something else but both WBC and Platelets are formed in bone marrow - so you probaly need to look there.

The BMB looks at the cells and types in the marrow, so soon they should know something.

Any thing else out of place?

You should have the results very soon...your wbc are very low..basically you have nothing to fight of infections...yes it shows some anemia but what is causing it is the question....what type of cancer was your oncologist treating before?? was it a luekemia or myeloma???These will definitely cause low counts in everything...call your doc and ask him exactly what is he looking for and why....hes the only person who can give you the correct answer....
