It's pretty normal for dogs to be afraid of thunder and firecrackers from what I've seen.

Like my sheltie just barks and barks and barks at them. He'll also run around in tight circles for some reason but he always does that. I think it's because he didn't expect it coming like he just heard this loud bang off in the distance.

I've also seen other dogs have similar reactions, barking or running around a lot. I don't know why they do it, I guess they just do.

That is a tough one. My lab is also terrified of firecrackers and any other loud noise. I try to desensitize her by staying calm and keeping her in a calm submissive state. Using a TV or radio to reduce the noise level is a good thing to do. Putting her in a crate or kennel where she feels safe will help also. Putting her in situations where there are loud noises and walking her pass these noises will help because she will see that they won't hurt her. Hopefully this won't help

My dog is also afraid of loud noises. I don't medicate him but there is a new product you may want to try. It plugs into an outlet (like a deodorizer) and releases a pheromone (DAP - dog appeasing pheromone) similar to that which a mother dog releases to reassure her puppies.

The first link shows some of the products available. I got mine from the vet and it was a lot less expensive.

You can also try behaviour modification using a tape with thunderstorm noises.

Is she crate experienced with the aid of any hazard? I somewhat have countless Collies & considered one of them has replace into frightened of storms over the years. I in simple terms open up her crate & throw a manage in there & she runs in to cover. She continues to be scared, yet i think of she feels a lot extra defend in her crate. i don't close the door or something, she in simple terms maintains to be in there on her very own. Cocker Spaniel lover is optimal - do not coddle her in any respect. I surprisingly a lot forget approximately approximately my woman - in simple terms make confident her crate door is open & she has a chewie in there to occupy her ideas slightly. with the aid of the way - I stay in Florida the place we've a thunderstorm surprisingly a lot on a daily basis for approximately 0.5 the 12 months. My woman does the full panting, shaking factor each and every time. she can stay and so will your canines.

My Mom got a cd that had rain and thunder on it and played it during the day for the dogs and eventually they got so used to hearing it when real storms pop up they don't pay any attention because they got so used to hearing those sounds.

if you know it is going to storm, take and turn up the radio or the TV and put him in that room. If you can, and he is broke to a crate, put him in that to help him from getting hurt or possibly running away if he gets outside.

If you show that you're nervous about how he/she's going to react, they will pick up on it and be nervous too. You need to show confidence. Also, don't baby her and tell her "it's okay," when she's acting afraid, you'll just be reinforcing the scared behavior. Ignore him/her while she's showing fear and praise her when she's acting brave.
