I don't see why not....Did they actually ask you for proof of employment? I know they asked me for the last three income tax returns....
I don't know if they are more strict now, than when we did it, three years ago....Good luck and go to the INS webpage and do your due diligence, before you start the process...

No, they need proof that the alien will not be a drain on the economy, and can be supported.
