1) dad, 2 sons, mom, 2 daughters, maid, dog. gotta get all of em over to the other side of river (boat only holds two, adult must be in to drive). if dad isn't there mom beats up sons. if mom isn't there dad beats up daughters. if maid isn't there dog bites everybody.

bonus (super hard)

12 tennis balls, and one of them is a fraction lighter OR heavier (you don't know!). you have a scale that will tell the truth but only can be used 3 times. how do you find the odd ball (it is possible. list all scenarios)

the first one is the classic crossing the river puzzel.. the answer would be to have people switch back and forth. for example, take maid and dog over. take maid back, send son and dad over, send dog and dad back...

1. Are you sure the boat doesn't hold 3? Then it would go like this.

First 4 trips Maid takes the Dog and 1 son or Daughter accross and returns with the dog. So you have 4 kids on the far shore and 3 adults and the dog on the old shore.

Then the maid takes both parents accross and returns herself to get the dog.

This is similar to another one I heard is why I thought of it this way.

Or you could also assume that 1 son and 1 daughter are adults also. Then the son could take all the other kids 1 by 1 accross then comes back and the Mom and dad cross and the oldest daughter goes back for the maid who then returns for the dog.
