This happened to me. Make sure the player is plugged in and wedge something behind the tray slot to force it open. I know this is a really scary fix, but when I tried it the tray eventually powered up and came out on its own. Good luck!

If you're not comfortable ask a freind whom is handy with a screwdriver. With the player unplugged remove all of the screws holding the outer cover in place. This will allow for the cover removal. With the cover off you should now be able to see and remove the dvd tray holding the dvd. I would recommend trashing this player. Most players are not worth investing $ to repair. Just buy a new one. Some camera repair shops will help in this task.

It sounds like there is a problem with the DVD player's power cord. Your actions may depend on how familiar and comfortable you are with electronics. If you arent very comfortable with messing with the DVD player too much, I would recommend taking it to your local electronics store. sometimes you can find someone who is helpful enough to actually try and get the DVD out for you. if they are kinda skeptical, you can tell them that your DVD player died and you were thinking about replacing it, but you need to get the DVD out of your old one first. i bet they would be willing to help you out to make a sale. If you are more comfortable around electronics, then what you can do is open the dvd player casing (usually held on by screws or clips) and once you are inside, you should be able to see the DVD sitting in there. Its usually just a matter of taking off a couple parts to get access to the DVD. since, the DVD player sounds like its dead, you probably wont need to worry too much about what you are taking off the player to get to the DVD. When doing this, be careful not to force the DVD or scrape it on anything. It is really easy to scratch them when trying to pull them out this way.
