As much as cats hate water, give them a bath with LEMON DISHLIQUID!!!!!!!!! Lemons are deadly poison to fleas. It kills them instantly! And it is safe for animals, even babies. They will get use to having baths after a few times. I have had to do it before with kittens that I found a few years ago and it works!Try it, it won't fail you!

I am having trouble with some of these answers. First of all, one week is much too early for a bath and absolutely no flea products!!!
You need to talk with a vet and he/she will advise you on treating the mother. For the kittens you need to comb, comb and comb some more. Heat some water in the microwave and when you get the fleas on the comb dip it in the very hot water. The fleas will die instantly.
It's a lot of work -- no reason why you can't watch TV and do it at the same time.
Haven't had this problem for many years and again I would consult the vet on when the kittens might have a bath. Dawn dishsoap is OK to use on them when they are the right age. Unfortunately when you bathe a cat or kitten the little flea buggers will run to safety in all the cat's orfices. Noses, anuses, eyes, etc.

with week old kittens you really should go to a vet, they have ways to get rid of fleas on the mother and that can help get rid of the fleas on the kittens, but there isn't much you can do about kittens that small and young. They need to have their fleas reduced but the safest way is to go to the vet, soap, powders and other options are just not a good idea for very small babies, they could get the soap in their mouths or they could breath in the powder. A vet can have most of the fleas gone in 24 hours and that gives everyone the best chance of survival.

The kittens will be fine until you can get to a vet tomorrow. The best thing that you can do is when you get to the vet, ask for a spray by frontline for kittens. What you do is spray it on a washclothe and then rub it on them. For the Mother, I recommend Advantage. Also make sure that you get your other cats treated, otherwise it's all pretty pointless. Your cats may not be near each other, but the fleas will still be around. Good luck!

Flea shampoo. Bathe all the kittens of course keeping their heads above water. Use a little bit of flea soap as being so young it could irritate their skin and do not get it in their un opened eyes. The mother might not be so willing to let you put her in water. She may need to be sprayed.
But, if the infestation is really bad, you will probably have to give her a
bath. Might not be pleasant. The best way of doing so is to wrap her up very tight in a blanket so she can not move and bathe one part of her at a time. I used to rescue animals when I was younger. I actually helped delivery my dogs puppies when I was 7 years old. Good luck. If you are unable to take care of them yourself, bring them to a no kill animal shelter.

Best bet is to go to a veterinarian. Fleas on kittens aren't super dangerous in small numbers, but those little buggers reproduce fast, and if you don't control them then the cat will begin to suffer from flea-bite anemia, which can cause developmental problems.

When they are this young you can't bathe them. First powder them throroughly with cornstarch (safe, but destroys the exoskeletal system of fleas). Then you need to hand pick them off.
Make sure Mama cat is flealess (bathe her & get Frontline Plus), and the surrounding environment is also.
Thank you for doing such a caring thing for Mama and her babies - Good Luck! :-)

There are two things you MUST do:
a) First, take the cat and babies and bathe them with a flea control liquid... leave the kitties and cat someplace else..
b) While the babies and cat are away, SPRAY all the areas where the cat/kitties sleep or roam... use a sprayer and use flea medicine from a feed store or from Petsmart and spray the heck out of the areas...
DO NOT just bathe the cat/kitties and let it go.. you MUST do #2 above.

the safest way to get rid of them is take them to the vet and make sure to get some stuff from the vet to prevent fleas and when it gets older then you can get some flea shampoo or something okay?

any cat/kitten shampoo with a few drops of any type of citrus essential oils (orange, lemongrass etc.) added to it. It would be like 1 drop per ounce. You can find essential oils in any health/healing/natural type store. This is safe and pesticide free. I use it on my own animals. It kills the fleas upon contact. You don't need to be exact when adding the oil, just don't go crazy because essential oils are potent.
