If Heaven has no sorrow, how would you know that you were happy after being there for awhile? Human beings like challenges in life. And we were given free will, Heaven takes that free will away because with out free will you cannot make mistakes. Without mistakes there is no pain. If there are no bad decissions, mistakes, or errors in heaven, it seems life in heaven would get boring after a while. You would no longer know what happiness is, due to sadness is non-existant. So, in theory, can a human being truly remain happy for extended periods of time without knowing sadness or pain? Or does life just end up a day to day existance with what ever you want when ever you want it? Just a thought, don't think much of the theory of hell either.

excellent question...I'd like to know if we will indeed have free will in heaven since that's what got us kicked out from paradise in the first place

I feel, one mistake most people make with respect to religion and the after life is to Humanize it. That is a natural assumption because we only know of things from the physical world and think little in other than two dimensions. Heaven/Hell and the after life is one of a spiritual world. Our inner spirit, which is alive and eternal, exist inside a physical body but upon death transcends into the spiritual world where the physical has no bearing. Memories or thoughts may continue to exist and reside in the afterlife but I can't make that assumption or will not. We use the word happy to describe heaven as that is a catch word that we use for a place of total good and no worries. Conversely Hell a place of torment or evil and bad. Hell is separation from God for sure and is said to be a place of eternal torment. Maybe Hell would just be knowing eternally that you missed out on heaven? Actually I believe Heaven and presence with God cannot be guessed at or assumed as what it will be like. I do feel that it will be ultimate happiness but I also think you cannot explain it or conceive of it in Human / Physical terms or thoughts for it's the spiritual world and no earthly/physical terms can be used to describe or understand it. I think that man/human cannot approximate the wonder of what Heaven will actually be nor can we describe it. Also I don't feel that human man/woman can, in the same way, understand or conceive of what hell will be nor could we hope to describe it but I feel it will be the exact opposite of what heaven will be. I think both Heaven and Hell though will be consistent and eternal and the condition of each will never change or alter for those spirits that occupy each. If that is true then how much emphasis is there on making proper decisions during our earthly, physical, time when we have the opportunity to choose and make choices when the outcome determines an eternal state where such decisions have no bearing or determination?

Exactly! I agree totally with you. I've asked this question myself, and I've never, ever heard a response from a Christian that can address this point. They all seem to say that "we'll be happy" and leave it at that. But how can you not be overwhelmed by complete and utter boredom living an existence of perfection without need or wants, challenges or problems... whithout goals and satisfation!?
Eventually people are gonna start sinning again, just to relieve the tedium (we're still supposed to have free will right?). Maybe that's what already happened. Maybe God got insanely bored and decided to make all of us for a little entertainment.

I think that you are very good to question that. I myself don't event know. I always thought it was going to be a happy place. However I am the kind of person who likes challenges in life and I am not 100% certin on what you ask. You know when hear a world without sadness or pain you think of the most relaxing place, but heaven is no ordinary place. It is up to you to decide what you belive in or not. When you go to heaven your question will be answered.

That's what God promised, and that's what I believe.
We will not have the " human traits " that we have here on Earth.
Humans like challenges in LIFE, not the AFTER life. Once we get there, we have accomplished what we have been trying to achieve all our lives.
Remaining happy without periods of sadness or pain is what Heaven is all about. We don't have to go through it any more. What else could one want ? How could that NOT bring eternal happiness ?
As far as any " theory " on hell..................an eternity of damnation. 24 / 7 of nothing but sheer, inescapable torture.
I choose the first route. It's been bad enough here on Earth. I don't want to go through any more of it and look forward to the Heavenly peace.

Perhaps Heaven is a place where all the good things, thoughts, events etc that we've had here are relived...however, we don't remember them (just as many if not all of us don't remember our birth, or the first few years of our lives..) so it will all be new to us and thus not boring. Then perhaps in Heaven we'll exist there but without the strife, challenges or difficulties...we won't know those things exist so we won't miss them.

You wouldn't be human if you didn't ask these questions. God is exactly who He says He is and so are His promises. When we die, our minds are more clear. We can see what we weren't able to see.Pain and suffering will no longer be in our vocabulary. Free will, will be what am I going to do today because in Heaven there will be endless possibilities. We will have talents like we never thought possible. Days don't exist because we will be in eternity. We're talking about the Creator of the Universe, don't you think He knows what He is talking about? You, don't really think that God is going to allow for us to be bored or sad, do you? If He says that we will be happy, then we'll be happy.

I don't think there is such a heaven like we've been taught, I think we just go to another step in our lives we just go further, is just the non-physical realm. Therefore, you will not be facing the issues that you face in planet Earth. I'm sure we go to a better life, for us while we are human beings it's difficult to understand how is it going to be there. But if you are interested in this kind of paradigm consult theories about metaphysics they will give u a better understanding of the after life.

The type of happiness you bear in mind while typing your question is achieved via cocaine, crack, ecs pills, and so forth. My take of the Bible dreams of heaven speaks of a world where human beings and the whole of creation do reach their full potential, with God living amidst the one who cheerfully seek justice and uplift the cause of the poor and the disenfranchised.
