Genesis 9:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

Why would god have a drunk like Noah take care of such an important task? Wouldn't a god who could perform miracles and change matter and move large object at will, have done a much more efficient job of saving the animals?

If God only used perfect people for his purposes, then Noah would get the credit for saving the world, not God (Who somehow managed to pull it all off in spite of the fact that all he had to work with was a stupid drunk.).

If God can use imperfect people, that gives hope to the rest of us, doesn't it? Not as an excuse to deliberately practice sin, but as an encouragement to pick yourself up and try again no matter how badly you screw things up.

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (NIV)
Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

This tale is probable some constrained flood interior the section which replaced into cased with the aid of a extensive meteorite. there is evidence of a extensive meteor crater off the coast . it ought to have appeared like the water coated each and every of the Earth to the human beings penning this oral history. we'd desire to continuously evaluate the way it recognized to them. a watch witness could declare the finished earth replaced into flooded whilst it replaced into particularly some distance achieving. specific, the animal deaths continuously bothered me and so does such as human beings interior the water screaming whilst Noah and his kinfolk commence out on a cruise.Floods reason destruction. we've seen this those days. many human beings declare precognition occurs randomly of their lives. the story isn't so some distance fetched if we evaluate it replaced into not a international extensive flood with each and every animal , which incorporate kangaroos onboard. that's a ethical tale with regard to the supply of God for His human beings.

For the sake of answerring I'll mention that God was the one drowning the animals, Noah wasn't the pinch hitter, he was the litmus test. It was God's challenge to Noah to rise above weakness and prove himself worthy of carrying on the legacy of mankind. He put the fate of man in the hands of his creation, kind of elloquent proof of weather or not his little project is working.

The real reason I want to post however is that this is possibly the most intelligent and civil and insightful discussion about a biblical topic I've seen on Ask Yahoo. Kudos to everyone for making this so enjoyable to read.

As the story goes, Noah did a very efficient job after all, regardless of his drinking.

The moral of this parable is that even though Noah was a drunk, he was able to accomplish great things (like saving the world) as long as he had his faith in God.

This story is meant to be inspiration to people that with God all things are possible.

Because there's no way this ever happened. I'm not saying there wasn't an ark or a flood. There may have been a flood (but not one that destroyed the world). There may have been a crazy guy who made an ark. But there's no way all the animals could have been loaded onto one boat. There's thousands of species of animals from bears, tigers, poisonous snakes, elephants, penguins (which they must have had a hard time finding).. come on.

God is a drunk himself. We did shots of Southern Comfort one night.

Why are you assuming that Noah was a drunk, just because he got drunk on this one occasion? Anybody can slip once...
Especially after having been cooped up in an ark with a bunch of animals, the wife, the kids, and thier wives....
I'll bet any guy would want a couple of drinks after that!!

Cause there were only 8 people in the whole of mankind that were "righteous", so his choices were limited.

Don't forget he actually overlooked Noah and his family and was going to destroy all mankind until he "noticed" Noah.

How did this all knowing Omnipotent one miss him the first time?

I show the rest of us that no matter what we did in the past we can still be saved and still do great things in his name.
