prices. i don't understand this. what cheap consumer prices? I pay $7.00 for an 8 oz bottle of shampoo, $50.00 for a pair of jeans, a minimun of $80.00 for a pair of shoes, a minimum of $20.00 for a shirt. I pay almost $5.00 for two pounds of hamburger, $3.00 a pound for broccolli, $3.00 for a gallon of milk, over $3.00 for a gallon of gas, $40.00 for a bag of dog food, a minimum of $250.00 for a set of "cheap" tires, a minimum of $700.00 for a "cheap" computer. last year i tried to cut my clothing costs and bought my three boys a more generic brand of jeans. they wore them three times and there were holes in the knees. i'm sorry i don't concider cheap shoddy products the same as cheap consumer products. so where are all the cheap products you people keep talking about? and just because the business pays the illegal immigrant little in wages doesn't mean they pass it on to the consumer, more than likely they keep the profit for themselves, so where are the cheap consumer products?

spooky sickness, tell me have you ever bought cheap walmart shoes? they last 3 weeks tops, i prefer Nike or similar brands, and that is about what they cost, they last a couple of years.
plus fute q: suave shampoo? i wouldn't use that crap on my dog, peasant.
kettlygold k: what does being native american have anything to do with it? and no i am not
michelle g; what is the matter with you? any good jeans should last more than three wearings

michelle g; my children are small, and clearly the knees in the jeans were worn out after three wearings, so they didn't do it on purpose and i'm sorry eqmidnite but no one in their right mind would be dumb enough to believe that there $700.00 computer was anywhere near top of the line, some one lied to you
and what is wrong with you people? you keep saying that i need to shop at lesser stores, i considar walmart a lesser store and that is where a lot of these items come from. you also keep saying "normal people" don't pay that much for simple things, who do you concider normal? those that are at poverty level?

you people are completly missing the point. i am not complaining about the prices i pay, they are simply an example of what i pay, and the question simplified is " where are the cheap comsumer products that are supposedly supplied by illegal immigrant labor?

i believe u choose to pay $80.00 for a pair of shoes, u can get 2 pairs of decent shoes 4 that price, $3.00 for gas in Chicago we pay $3.49 a gallon, so u just need to shop around for cheaper prices cuz u CAN find them 4 cheaper. but if it doesn't bother u 2 pay that much then that's u & ur money do whatever u want. but 4 the ppl who shop @ walmart or other similiar stores it does cont somewhat, but the company usually keeps the profit. look at construction, roofing, dry walling, carpentry, etc... these jobs r all cheaper due to the fact that many illegals occupy these jobs & yes the profit still usually goes to the owners/companies. so i think its the employers not willing to pay a worker/american a decent wage or insurance so that they can pocket the $. oh well capitalism o yes the good US of A.

Where the hell do you shop with those prices. Maybe if you opted for off brand stuff you wouldn't be paying so much. You don't need name brand everything. $50 jeans, are you crazy, you can go to any regular store and get some for $20 or less. And $80 shoes, come on now, you know you don't have to pay that much, thats just stupidity on your part. You can go to just about any store with shoes and find a very nice, durable pair for less then $20. If your kids ripped their pants thats their fault, they don't need name brand and they probably did it on purpose. Use your common sense. Cheap products are everywhere, you just can't be so picky. There are these lovely stores called K-mart, walmart, target, goodwill, any thrift store, hell just a drug store. I mean come on. Quit bitching about how much you pay and actually look around at all the great products that are cheap.

Jordan is a nut, and I know Anglea R got to have her 'We are the World' Immigrants song singing.
Nothing you mentioned has to do with immigration becuase most of that stuff is done outside of the counrty. The stuff that is here has no effect on the cost of labor to any farm therefore the cost of production is unchanged. You taxes pay for 2/3rd the price of what you buy at the store.

Um, try buying cheaper stuff. Who pays $8.00 for a bottle of shampoo? Or $80 for shoes? Normal people don't pay such outrageous prices for such simple things. Or if they do, they don't complain about how expensive it is. My shampoo costs $1, my jeans $20, my computer $700 (but it is nearly top of the line, but I got it on sale), my shoes $40, my broccoli $1.79/lb, and my tires $200/4. Do you live in the same country as I do? Try bargain shopping.
To answer your question: Cheap labor leads to cheap products for the end consumer. Paying a mexican worker to pick tomatoes for $2/hour results in cheaper produce. If the farmer had to pay $6.50/hour to each worker (~minimum wage), he could not afford to keep produce prices the same. You're fooling yourself if you think farmers are getting rich off of illegal immigrants.

Clearly you are not shopping at the right places. Try not going so much for the name brands, eh? Because if you're going to be an idiot and pay eighty dollars for SHOES, you really have no right to complain.

Illegals have nothing to do with cheap consumer products. Almost everything you listed would be made abroad, except the food items.

I'ts NOT the consumers who get the savings!!!! It's the GREEDYASS employers who reap the benefits!!!!!!!!!! The ONLY people who benefit by ILLEGALS being in this country, are the illegal themselves, AND the people who hire them!!!!!!!
