Skin is the largest organ of human body. It keeps microbe away from entering and harms the body like infection. It regulates body temperature and level of fluid. It can sweat to release toxin out of your system.
Skin is part of animals since their ancestors once lived in the ocean before conquering the land. I would say hundreds of millions of year ago.
Trust me there is on cons of having skin. You should visit any Burn Center near your house and see how lucky you are to be covered by your own skin.

Pro: you live.
Con: well, I don't know anything against having skin, exept perhaps that it makes it harder for a doctor to examine you.
Without skin, you'd be losing fluid by the bucket. You'd also get infected by any pathogen that happens to pass by. Some of your more delicate body parts would be exposed to elements. You'd not be able to sleep comfortably (no eyelid).

Pros:
The skin is a protective organ that only not protects you from bacteria and other disease agents, but allows you to manage your temperature and host a variety of noiceptors & corpuscles that allow you to occupy your sense of touch. Without skin you would die from septic shock as a whole host of organisms would symbiotically take over your body.
Cons:
Disease. The epidermis' inabiltiy to hold up its protein structure against ultraviolet rays is critical in cancer and aging.

Pros - It is the largest organ of the body. It is our first defence against infection. Allows us to keep a steady body temperature.
Cons - the rest of the planet fights wars over the colour of it.
