TRY WHAT THE OTHER PEOPLE HERE SAID THEN IF THAT DOESN'T WORK TRY USING A DIFFERENT USB PORT.
if all esle fails, try to do it the long way by going in through your camera software and "adding photos"

I'm not sure what you mean that your "usb doesn't detect your camera" - your usb is just a reference to the outlet or perhaps the cord that plugs into the outlet on your computer. It's like saying that your electric outlet doesn't detect your blender.
I'm assuming that you mean that your computer doesn't do anything when you plug your camera into a USB port - you're probably expecting it to immediately begin downloading the pictures from your camera - or perhaps you want it simply to open your photo editing software.
The two most obvious solutions would be:
1) unplug the cord from the usb port on your computer, then reboot your computer (allow it to completely finish the process) before plugging the cord back in again.
2) reinstall the camera-specific drivers that came on the CD with your camera.
If I'm guessing correctly, Windows (is that even the operating system you're using?) isn't recognizing the camera automatically with its plug 'n' play technology. If the camera has worked fine until now, either the reboot or the reinstalled drivers should clear up your problem.
If not - your best bet is to contact technical support for your camera manufacturer, most of these companies have excellent websites, with helpful online resources and toll-free numbers for additional knowledgeable assistance.
Good luck!

Things to Check:
1. If your using the back of your computer check to see if you can us other USB devices in that plug to be sure it's working. - If it's not working you will have to activate your USB ports or your plug & play option in your bios. - that's the area when you first turn on your pc and the text will say press (delete-key) or something like that to enter your bios.
2. your operationing system madders as well if you have never used usb before and your using it on a win95 you may have to check manufactures website for a driver up date. 95 operation systems where not made for plug and play usb.
3. If your using a hub make sure your hub light is on.
4. cable/cam test. try your cable & cam with a diffent pc to make sure it's working. It's possible that the cable or cam could be bad.
5. Some times reboots can slove these simple problems.
6. Like the previous answer loading the drivers disk that came with the product can solve this issue.
7. And last check your systems device manager for conflits.
Good luck and Best wishes for success.

most likely you do not need to install any driver these day. it will automatically detect when you plug the cable to both your pc and camera. it may be easier to plug the cable in after you turn on your pc. if pc doesn't detect it, then something is wrong. make sure the driver for the usb are installl for the pc first. it should have been installed unless they are corrupted. oh, make sure the camera is on, some even require you to turn to pc mode. check out the manual for these requirement.

If you're installing it for the first time, use the software that came with it before plugging it in.
Go to device manager, look for usb controller, update the driver by using the cd that came with camera, or look for an update on the internet.

sometimes i have to unplug the usb cord and plug it back in a few times. give it time to recognize that you plugged it in. also if you have already downloaded your software you can plug in the camera and go to that program and it will work.
