By disconnecting myself from reality as much as possible, living in my dreams and memories, and pretending life is as I want it rather than the way it is, for any part of life that meets with my disapproval. This is not technically sucide, so should be ok (ie not a sin, not immoral, etc..)

Those of you who say "get real" or otherwise ridicule the idea. Jealous?? (That you didn't think of it first.)

Those who would ridicule this, keep in mind:
1) Its a coping mechanism to keep any remaining sanity in a crazy world?
2) Some people already assume reality to be the way they want. They call it positive thinking, Tony Robbins, etc
3) Worst case, you get hospitalized for a while, and you get food and shelter while there, and a way to work out issues.

Btw, one of the therapists (shrink) I went to is, I am convinced, part of the reason for my distress, depression, and dissatisfaction getting worse, not better.

I am deeply sorry I gave you the wrong impression as to why I am here and posting this. I certainly never intended to take all your thought out responses for granted. I did want to shoot back but only at those who were outright rude like "get a life" or "your already there.." Everyone else, I do appreciate your help and support. This is real, I am not trolling around for reactions and responses. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that..

I've tried that and known other people as well who did. Ideally, it would be great but the bottom line is that you will still be alive and existing in a world that goes on whether or not you like it. Everyone learns about life by it's pain and harshness at one point or another. We've all had dreams and hopes that went unfulfilled and hearts filled with bittersweet memories that tug at us to keep looking back. The more you try to disconnect from reality and isolate the more people, places and things will interfere because that's how life is: it continues day after day and will keep you a part of it because you are a part of life right now. You are a real person who probably has had some really hard times and needs to take a bit of a breather to get your head together, but please don't hole yourself up and try to shut everything that is unpleasant out of your life or you'll miss out on good things that you'd never expect. I've had so many times when giving it all up seemed the only intelligent and logical solution and had my entire life change for the better the next day. I wouldn't waste my time or energy typing this if I didn't know what your question meant or if I didn't know how it felt. Take care.

Later: Ok, now that I can see how flippant you are about a subject that the majority of us took very seriously and offered our sincere answers to, it makes sense that Yahoo Answers deleted your suicidal posting. You don't need professional help that you don't want since you use that as an excuse for your current state (what a cop-out) and you don't need to be such a wise *** to those of us who made an honest effort to share our experiences and opinions.

If you are spending this much time with the computer, you may have already committed a form of mental suicide. The nation committed mental suicide twice when it elected Bush.

why are you so concerned if something is taboo? if you are in emotional distress i recommend you find a therapist. it sounds like you just want to dissociate. or block out all the bad things of life and pretend you are ok. i'm 23 and have done this my entire life and now am falling apart. please just seek some professional help.

it doesnt work, reality rears its ugly head to slap you in the face all too often. you cant escape it unless youve got a lot of money... and im not convinced that would work either.

You will still need real money to buy real food, to live in a real house or whatever it is you live in, and pay real bills. GET REAL.
