why do "most" people not like black cats?

I have a all black two year old spayed female cat. she's the sweetes most lovable cat I've ever had. I just don't understand why many people don't care for black cats. in my opinion, they're the greatest!! what do you think? all that bad luck crap is completly bogus to me!!!

she's strictly an indoor only cat.

Of course it's crap. I had a little black male for a while and he was the cutest thing.
Where I live the local humane society won't let anybody adopt a black cat in October. Just in case you are some kind of freak who wants a living Halloween decoration and plan to release in November to fend for itself.
Or worse things.

Yeah, its bogus to me too, but for a lot of people its not! It sounds crazy, I know, but people really believe in that stuff! So I guess a lot of them are scared of black cats! It would never stop me from getting a black cat though! I'm too big of an animal lover though! I don't think anything could stop me from getting any cat...

I also have a all black 3 year old cat. She is my baby. She is the only female pet I have so her and I have a special bond. I do not understand why people hate cats period. I mean I can understand if someone doesn't like them but leaves them alone. I have seen people however who HATE cats and actually will try to scare them and will terrorize them. Sad sad sad.

I have had lots of black cats, as well as every other colour combination and pattern. One of the main things about black cats is that some sick people search them out for sacrifices on Halloween so be sure to keep it inside that night. I always keep all my cats in that night anyways.

I agree. I don't understand why the color of a cat's fur is associated with bad luck. I have a gray tabby and a brown tabby, but I think black cats are beautiful with their shiny dark fur. The contrast of having light eyes and dark fur makes them look exotic like black panthers.

It's actually VERY lucky to own a black cat.
And, in England, the un-lucky cats to come across are white cats, not black ones.
All the black cats I've ever owned have been super-stars, very intelligent and fun.

I have no idea cuz I have the most loveable, big not fat just big, laziest, cat that will love you no matter what u do except my bro cuz he brought home another male kitten and hes mad at him but if u didnt live here u would never no and the kitten is black too!!!!

Long ago when people were hunting & kiiling witches, it was assumed that witches turned themselves into black cats to roam around unnoticed, the same as vampires turned themselves into bats. That's why people say they're bad luck. If you notice, sometimes people do things & not know why they do them. They just follow suit with everyone else.
