I want to send some baked goods to a friend in the UK. I live in the US. Will US/UK customs allow it?

most of the time sending any type of fresh foods is not allowed
the exception to this sending to an APO or FPO address, as this is considered a USA address and not a foreign address

With all the terrorist crap going on I am sure your package will be screened. Dry goods yes in cans and packages, but you have to evaluate it. I get chocolate bars from Germany with no problem so you probably can.

normally there's lots of complicated procedures involved while sending those food stuffs

i guess if they're "dry" cookies.
you could send some for custom officials to munch on, so they'll send them on promptly
