Those people who proclaim that they are "Good God-Fearing Christians" always turn out to be the most hateful people on Gods green Earth. They discriminate against anyone who's ideals are not identical to their own. I understand they have their beliefs, but why impose these beliefs on others? Why force these beliefs down other peoples throats when their Almighty God tells them to "Love thy neighbor as thyself"?

Sorry for the last generalization, instead of "all" I should have used "most" or "a decent amount." I apologize for that.

actually this is true, and it usually by people who have recently converted. They seem more fanatical for some reason, wanting to show others what they themselves have just discovered. But when they don't get the response they want, they get mad and frustrated.

Well, I don't think it's fair to say that ALL of them are bigots, but I understand what you mean. I guess you just have different levels of tolerance/intolerance within the Christian community as you have within any other religious community.

One of my relatives, for example, is one of the most closed-minded persons I know. She is very intolerant of gays and persons of other religious faiths (e.g. Muslims and even other Christians of different denominations). While her attitude annoys me, I have to understand that she has her beliefs about what is right and what is wrong, and she has the right to hold on to those beliefs no matter how frivolous I think some of them are.

One big part of Christianity is ministering to other people, because, frankly, they think their way is the only way to live and so it is their duty to get everyone on the right path so that everyone can go to heaven. They perceive preaching to and even chastising non-believers as an act of love. While it appears that the ones you have encountered might have been forceful in trying to get their message across, the fact of the matter is their methods will differ from person to person. Some may seem forceful because they cannot fathom why others would choose not to believe what they do. Others (like a few of my very good friends) might be inclined to have a more rational discussion about religious matters without condemning you to fire and brimstone, etc., and are even willing to learn from people who have different points of view.

No matter who they are, they are human and humans make mistakes. God fearing Christians does not mean they are perfect. The discrimination is a problem because they are not suppose to judge others. No one can force their beliefs down your throat unless you want them to. If you do not like what they are saying or do not want to listen just walk away. A Christians purpose on earth is to tell the world about Jesus and to strive to become a better person much like Jesus was when he walked this earth. If I tell someone and they do not wish to hear they have the right to walk away.

ya know, I never had a clue about how non-believers were being preached to until I put my email address on yahoo answers for about a hour! I answered a question and some nut case wrote me and told me that I needed to speak in tongues and roll in the floor if I was indeed saved! I couldn't believe the hate in the email that was sent to me.
I am a Pastor's wife not to mention I have been saved since the age of 8 years old. and I've been to many churches, and never, NEVER been harassed as I was the day I put my email address on yahoo answers!
God love ya, if you are having to endure anything like the message I received! I am a Christian and I do answer questions, but I certainly believe that you have a choice, and that is between you and God.. I don't answer by mail. so not all God fearing Christians harass the heck out of people... or tell them how to act or feel or what to believe. that is God's job, not mine!

P.S. beware of someone named Ernest! LOL! that person scares me! LOL!

LOL, because they need an instruction manual on how to live and assume everyone else does, too. Ironically, they can't seem to figure out how to apply all of the directions, so they ignore the ones that they find confusing while overtly asserting their righteousness to self-affirm that their "way" is right. I think that on some level they are not at peace or live in fear and want everyone else to be equally miserable. BTW, most Christians don't do this. We just have to hear the ones that do.

Somewhere along the way, God's message got twisted to suit their own ends & that's the only thing they can see. It has to fit their idealogy or it is just wrong! My ex mother-in-law is a "good Christian woman" but I can't even go into detail here about all the horrible things she's done & said about me. But every Sunday morning, there she sits in her pew acting all pious & decent, when I know better . . . The only thing you can do is avoid these types of people like the plague!!! Stay away from them - tell them God loves you just the way you are, now, y'hear? with a big ol smile & run the other way while they try to puzzle that one out . . .

You show love to your neighbor by sharing with them the good news found in the Bible. No one should force his/her religion on no one. For as a persons idea, that's the problem with the world today, people are forming their own ideas, instead of being directed to the Bible and get God's ideas. What we think means nothing, it's what the Bible says. If a person can't back up their beliefs by what the Bible says, then it means nothing. Sometimes, people may conclude that Jehovah's Witnesses try to force their belief on others. Sometimes they may become over zealous because of the love they have for people wanting them to know the Truth found in the Bible. It's like this my Friends, if you knew that a ship was sinking and knew a lot of folks was on that ship, what would you do? Naturally you would do all you can to warn the people about the sinking ship. The Bible gives us composite signs about this world and what's it's coming to, if you don't want to know, then kindly let them know that you are not interested in what they have to say, they will respect your wishes. Remember, they don't get paid for this work they do, they exert their energy and time voluntarily to help people learn what's in the Bible. It's all out of love for Jehovah God, Jesus Christ, and for the People. We are truly living in critical times hard to deal with my Friends, it's time to wake up and see what time we are living in. 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

Respectfully one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Because Christians are still humans and therefore sinful still. The only difference really is that we are saved and "try" to live by God's commandments. Being saved still doesn't make us sinless or less irritating. It isn't a "Christian" thing really...it's a human condition. I can say that with the belief one has in Christianity that it truly aches ones heart to see someone that does not know the utter joy, love, & peace found in giving your life to Christ. This makes it difficult for a Christian to keep their mouths shut and not push. Truly desiring that beautiful thing to be in someone elses life unfortunately makes it hard for most to not be a little pushy. Just forgive them. They truly mean no harm and really just want what they believe is the best for you.

I wonder how many of the Christians (?) asking questions here are really non-believers exploiting people's prejudices?

Some of the questions asked by so-called Christians, and their answers are so antagonistic, that they are meant to create polarization and hate. It's truly embarrassing, and I'm sure it is meant to be.

Christ was inclusive and non-judgemental of sinners and non-believers. He converted them not by rhetoric and guilt, but by action, acceptance and character.

Christians should not be like the Pharisees and Sanhedrin that Christ despised. They should not judge judge. They should just state their own beliefs and the impact in their life. They should not pray for others unless they approve, it is false pride when they do.

Thus, some people are like that. Either they know not what they do or they have a hidden agenda. But you are right, the actual message is one of love, and that should be the filter to know if they are truly a Christian.

There is no excuse for ignorance, rather a believer or not,...... but ....
Christians are taught to "Depart, and be not conformed to this world" meaning we are different or "weird" because Jesus was peculiar also. To be like him would make Christian's stand out from the resof the majority. As far as imposing or pushing their beliefs, Christians (those who believe in Christ) are taught by Christ's teachings to "spread the good news" and baptise people in His name.
So they believe they have work to do. You are right though, no one should be force to believe in anything! You should write your congressman on "Sunday Blue Laws"! Cuz thats forcing religion on all of us!

I'm really offended by your question and supporting statement. I'm a Christian (which means someone who believes and follows the teachings of Jesus Christ) and my life reflects that. Jesus taught compassion, forgiveness, love, and understanding. He wants our lives to be a reflection of his life (minus the crucifiction part, of course). He spread the Word of God and he wants his followers to do the same - not to force the Word of God on anyone, but to share the Word of God with them. It is up to those individuals to seek the Lord if they're interested. True Christians are not full of hate. They do not discriminate against others. I try my best to love all people, to help others in need, and not to judge anyone. Maybe you should do the same. Instead of placing all "Christians" into one big group and insulting those of us who are true Christians, learn to love everyone yourself - even those individuals you feel are hateful. Tolerance and acceptance are also important skills to have in social relations. When you meet a "self-proclaimed good Christian" who seems to be hateful (as you stated), simply remind them that their Jesus hated no one and forgave everyone. You don't have to believe in Jesus to remind Christians of the values behind their beliefs.
