The keys to losing weight are the same as they always have been: Eating healthy, getting enough exercise and patience.
This is coming from someone who's been there. When I was twelve years old I weighed over 200 lbs. I am now six years older, four inches taller and yet 35 lbs lighter! (And I have certainly gotten a lot stronger since then as well.)
I believe the first step is to realise that you are not going to lose all the weight you want to right away. Set yourself a realistic goal, such as 10 lbs before New Years or something. (I realise that doesn't sound like much, but it's lifestyle change that is important.)
Secondly, I don't know what you generally eat, but chances are that you are eating too much junk food and not enough vegetables. Try experimenting a little, there are lots of veggies out there, I'm sure there have to be a few that you can eat and enjoy.
Thirdly, (I'm just speiling these out in the order they come to me, not necessarily in any order of importance) reduce your portion sizes. I have found this to be one of the most effective ways to lose weight. When you are overweight, your stomach expands to larger than it needs to be and makes your body feel that you need more food than you really do. This means that while you are trying to lose weight you are going to need to leave the table while you're are still feeling just a little bit hungry. Gradually your stomach will shrink back to normal size and you will be able to fill it again without risking your health.
Fourthly, and this is a biggie, get outside! Get some exercise! Even if you just start slow with something like walking around the block every day, it makes such a big difference. The key is not to increase your activity a whole bunch all at once, but to commit yourself to you doing SOMETHING and then sticking with it, regularly, and being patient.
Fifthly, and lastly, unless I think of something else, DRINK WATER! Water is the miracle drug of our generation. You know when people take a glass of water with their medication? I betcha a lot of the time that glass of water does more good for them than their pills ever will.
So get some exercise, eat your veggies, cut down on junk food, drink lots of water and be patient, lifestyle change takes time.

There is one fundamental truth of weight loss and weight gain. If you consume fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. If you consume more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. That said, there are two ways to lose weight - consume fewer calories or burn more calories. The best plan is one that does both. In the end, it takes about 3,000 calories to result in a pound of weight loss or weight gain. This can not be done in one day - it has to come over time. You did not put the weight on in one week, it will not come off in one week.

I suggest you first look at your diet and find high caloric foods and drinks in your diet that you can reduce or eliminate. A perfect example is soda. A can of soda runs about 150 calories per can. If you drink 3 cans per day, that is 450 calories in soda alone. Make one change at a time so that it become habit; don't cut out everything all at once. You will get cravings and simply fall off the diet and gain it all back. This is a life long commitment so you may as well take it one healthy step at a time.

Of course, some calories are better than others so it is a little more complex than this. However, it is a good start to go along with an increasing exercise regime.

Last, before taking on any weight loss program, consult your doctor about your program.

Find an exercise that is fun for you and it will be MUCH easier to stick with it. I highly recommend belly dancing. It is fun and expressive. It makes you feel feminine and better about your body and helps you be more tuned in to your body's needs. I like the Bellydance Fitness for Beginners series by Veena and Neena. The Slim Down one is my favorite so far. If you are in moderately good shape it will provide a nice challenge without being too difficult. If you want to start a little slower, try Basic Moves. It is also helpful for learning some of the moves at a slower pace than the other dvds. I would only recommend the fat burning one for someone who can already run several miles because it is extremely strenuous. (This is not just my opinion---users on Amazon rate it as very difficult and bone-jarring.) They also have one for toning abs, arms, hips and thighs. I've been doing the Slim Down one regularly and have lost about twenty pounds. These exercises will exercise your lower body like you would not believe. :) Good luck!

"sitting" at home isn't going to help you lose weight. Watch what you eat and stay away from junk food (fried food, sweets, etc).

You can workout at home by taking walks, getting some workout videos or DVDs and working out in your living room.

Use your search engine and look up "thigh exercises" or "butt exercises" etc and see what they suggest, and there are often pictures or descriptions so you can make sure your form is correct.

You're about 161 lbs, so that's a bit high for your height. Work up to exercising for 1 hr a day (break it up if you need to, some morning some evening) and watch your calorie intake.

Good luck!

weight loss tips

Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.

* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.

* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.

* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.

* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.

* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.

* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.

* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.

* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!

* Increase your physical activity
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

Best exercise to start with is just to simply walk more. That does not have to mean walk from point A to point B which can be boring. The idea is to physical activity by doing housework, gardening or anything that keeps you moving. The more you move, the less you will feel like eating.

Good luck to you!

Get some workout DVDs! I do yoga and Tae Bo in my bedroom. Also, watch your portions! Most people eat way too much, as a rule. You don't need to starve yourself or anything. But most people could afford to cut their portions in HALF (or less, even!) and STILL be eating healthy.

Make sure you don't eat a ton of carbs, too. Make sure you're getting lots of lean protein (I'd go for fish) and fiber.
