The best thing that you can do to avoid dandruff is use a moisturizer so that the scalp can have the right amount of oil that it needs. And you can try using Head and Shoulders Shampoo and or Sulfer 8 Shampoo and just afterward use the moisturizer. I hope that this helps you out I really did try to give the best advice that I know.

Dandruff comes from two reasons, either a dry, scaly scalp or very oily scalp. So it depends upon these conditions.

Whatever may be the conditions of dandruff, the major things to avoid dandruff are

1. Wash your hair twice or thrice a week with a good medicated shampoo. If sometimes the dandruff is not severe then just wash with normal shampoo, because if you use medicated shampoo everytime, the scalp will get used to it, and it would stop controlling the dandruff effectively.

2. Change your pillow covers, bath towels, hair brushes almost everyday so that you won't be re-infected with the bacteria. Always use clean hair brushes particularly.

3. Never use others hair brushes or bath towels.

4. If you use hair oil, massage your scalp with warm coconut oil. Leave it overnight and then before one hour of shampooing your hair apply juice of half lemon. However, if you don't use oil there are other remedies too.

5. Rub a lot of aloe vera gel into the scalp and leave for about 10-15 mins and then wash your hair as usual. Do it everytime you wash your hair.

6. Mix almond oil and olive oil and apply. Leave for about 5 mins or until its starts to burn. Wash your hair as usual.

7. Sometimes for severe dandruff if these won't work, mix some neem powder with water and apply the paste on the scalp and leave it until it dries or for about 20 mins and wash your hair as usual. Neem powder is very very effective.

I tried many things including a variety of native treatments.shampoos and all works temporarily. I took a break from hectic schedule for a month and then realised dandruff had gone. Perhaps stress was the cause for all this while which one nvere realised.

So take a break from routine do what you want and enjoy to do and then watch the dandruff go away...

Go to any Grocery or Drug store, and buy the Shampoo and Conditioner : Head and Shoulders. Lots of people use it for Dandruff, but also just to make their hair look fuller and healthier. I don't have Dandruff and I use it! That's how good it is!

Do not wash your hair everyday. The oils from your scalp help keep any dryness or scales away and therefore reducing dandruff.
