Have you heard of Restless Leg Syndrome?
It usually affects people at night & can sometimes be painful.
Google "Restless Leg" to find out more.

The other answers look good too.

Perhaps you could Google "Leg Cramps"?

When you exercise for that long a time lactic acid builds up in the muscles. When it is expelled the leg can cramp up, causing pain. Since it happens when you are not adding extensively to it (hence, sleeping), it will hurt the worst when you wake up. You can try stretching after you walk for at least 10 minutes as well as walking another 1/4 of a mile at a slower pace before stopping and stretching. Vitamins can also help because they give your body needed nutrients. Good job on working on so much, good luck with the cramping.

Try taking 400iu of natural Vitamin E (or 800iu of synthetic) for a few weeks and see if it helps.

You can stop the cramp as soon as it starts by stepping hard on your heel with the front part of the foot off the floor. Or even flexing the front part of the foot up while bearing down on the heel while you're lying down.

Good luck - these cramps are extremely painful.

You are more than likely dehydrated, but you might also be lacking in potassium!

Make sure that you are getting plenty of water and take potassium supplements as bananas really do not give you that much potassium as a lot of people seem to think.

stretching and making sure you get enough water in the run of a day is a good way to go with cramps....I used to get them then took up yoga on a friends recommendation and haven't gotten any in several years now

i think its called a charlie horse...
this ALWAYS used to happen to me.
its lack of stretching, and when you do stretch it happens,

try stretching more often and eat bananas (high potassium) and milk(calcium) or bananas and orange juice(vit. c). about an hour before you go for your excersise
