I of course can only answer as my faith believes. You do not HAVE to go. You can worship at home. You go to Temple to pray as a community. Also certain prays can only be said with at least ten men present.

why do we need to go to a hotel when food can be cooked at home? Well this is a absurd comparison i know.
Well the simple reason is, the scenario makes a difference - its more Appealing in a place of worship - easier to concentrate and medidate.
There is another reason - a health point of view. Its said that every body give out vibrations i.e. energy. The frequency of this energy differs according to the feelings/emotions. In a place of worship, where hundreds visit, the positive (a person has pious thoughs in a place of worship u c) vibrations/energy from each person results in a huge energy source, which can be easily absorbed.
This is one of the reason why one feels more relaxed after visiting a temple / church mosque etc.
Hope i am right

God IS everywhere...who said you HAD to go to churches, mosques, and temples to experience God....I have a strong relationship with Christ and I rarely ever go to a church....my spirituality is not bound by anything of the earth. period. I fell God's presence everywhere I go and it is wonderful...sometimes a church doesn't do it for me...the people in my everyday life and the sun and the stars and the beautiful grassy fields and mountains and the sky .....are all my church....don't know 'bout you?

Churches, mosques, and such are usually intended to help develop a sense of community among their believers, rather than being "the place where God (gods) listen to you." In most faiths, location does not prevent one from praying to their particular deity, but a religious building can help people to come together and learn from each other about their faith.

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Jesus himself went to the temple when he was on earth and read from the scriptures. It is natural for humans to gather together where likes are present. We share a common faith and believe and our hope is to be with Jesus forever and thus we start by strenghtening each other by gathering to praise our Lord and Saviour. It builds unity and strength in faith and love and to teach and learn.

I think it is upto you. If you have the right awareness that God is everywhere, and even within you, then you do not have to go anywhere else. But, for most of the common people, they do not get time (knowingly/unknowingly) to think about these things and so some visual form/place is required to focus the minds and to pray/thank God. It all depends on the amount of real knowledge within you.

He is really everywhere. Too bad we cant see Him so man thought of building church, mosque, etc. These places were built so we can have "God's home" here on earth. It is also an expression of our desire to be with Him.

At mosques and churches etc..we want to meet people who worship the same God.. It's like a rendez-vous: Christians for example, let's gather every Sunday(time), at the nearest church (location) to worship God.. WE KNOW GOD IS EVERY WHERE BUT WE (HUMAN) WE ARE NOT

you dont its just a place where believers can talk about God and how he has helped them and how great he is. Also a place to confess your sins. God is everywhere. So yes you can pray just about everywhere. But Sundays are normally to go to church. Like one of the commandments says

In short, we don't need to go to mosques, temples etc. Those are places of false gods.
The true and loving God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for us and He raised Him again to life, proving Jesus justifies those who believe. By justifying us God made it possible for the Holy Spirit to live inside us. Not only is God everywhere but He also resides with you if you believe and confess Jesus as God.
So why do we need churches? Because God commands us to go to church (gather with other believers) for our own benefit and that of others (Hebrews 10). Because we love Him, we obey His commandments.
