Is it a "work from home" opportunity? I would thoroughly check it out first and talk with someone who has done it.

I don't know, most at-home jobs are pretty much scams.

Medical transcripting, from what I know, requires that you turn over a TON of documents in a short period of time. That means you better be a super fast typist, be very accurate, and willing to actually work very, very hard for probably the same pay you could be making at a call center or some other menial job.

It's a scam in that it attracts people that "want to be their own boss and work from home." Hint: this is 99% of the population.

Move to Florida. With the increasing number of retirees, there is an equally increasing number of medical facilities springing up like weeds. Any job in the medical field is in high demand. Especially nurses. There is a tremendous shortage of medical support staff in Florida. I'm sure a medical transcriptionish would have no problem finding employment either. Good luck.

my mother did it for years, there is ok money in it now, you have to be an excellent typist for it to pay off....at her last timed test she typed 144 medical terms a minute. Anything less than 100 and you are wasting your time. And many places prefer you to have the education to go with it, I would say it is more difficult than being a nurse...you should go for that if you are looking for an easier way...but you can't stay home with it though?

There is real money if you are certified and properly trained. You are not wasting your time. Another option besides medical is legal transcription.
