Why do people on here give make mean , nasty comments, give hateful advice or just inaccurate advice, or critisisms and then wont allow people to react to their "abuse"? If you feel free to be hateful to others or insult them, why cant you take the response they will give you? If you want to be mean and hateful in your answer, you should at least give the question asker the opportunity to respond to your insults. Why do you block your e-mail? This question is especially to the people giving hateful animal and parenting advice, cause they seem to be the most self-ritious of all.

I encourage askers to e-mail me for more help, and enjoy helping people one on one..but some days I can't even work on the Answers forum, becasue I spend all day answering off-forum questions..

But, yesterday I got the worst email ever..Someone threatened me, that if did't retire from Yahoo! Answers to allow another person a chance to take over as catagory leaderboard leader..that they would track me down by my ISP and harm my family..
Boy! I was really tempted to block my email...that is not the first threat of it kind...about once per week I get hate mail, for no apparent cause, other than my community standing....so it is always in my mind to just block my email..

I sure know how you feel though! I would sure like to email Get em Gang...as he thinks he knows so much, but doesn't know very much..and covers his lack of knowledge in sarcasm and insults..NEVER useful information..

the MOST annoying, are the ones that email me. but haven't allowed or confirmed return email!!!

As far as I am aware,I have/do not give nasty, hateful responses. When first on Yahoo, I thought I would give it a whirl, not allowing email until I knew exactly what was what. After some time,I DID allow mail, the very first day,I got a very abusive mail from someone whom I do not remember answering their question. I checked my responses, and sure enough, I had NOT responded to any of the persons questions!! I'm happy to discuss different points of view, in a reasonable manner, but will NOT allow abusive mail.I promptly changed it back again to disallow mail, which is a great pity. So there you have it. THIS is why I block emails.

If you feel that someone has been hateful and abusive on a public message board, then sending them a private retalitory email takes it to a personal level that is unnecessary. There are a lot of askers who freak out when they don't like the answers they get, and they respond with abusive emails.

If you want to "react to their abuse", then you can hit the "report abuse" link next to the answer. With this handy tool, why would you need to send a nasty email?

I personally block my e-mail for the fact that I rather not have plenty of spam, hate comments, and stuff like that for all the "tidying up" I do on the site. Not only that, but I dont want if I ask a question with plenty of answers, to receive so much responce mail, that it kills the poor in-box.

I personally don't provide my email address, because I'm very private in general. I posted a question once asking about babysitting etiquette and got lambasted by a few people for being an awful step-parent, etc. etc. I never asked for a critique of my personality or an attack on my character from people I don't even know, so I sure as hell wouldn't give people an opportunity to take it one step further and start harassing me and forcing their opinions on me via email.

I too agree with you on this one. Those type of people are immature & they can't handle what they dish out. People like that are insecure & can easily say things to hurt others & to be the center of attention, even if it's negative attention. They surely can't take it in return though. They become very angry & hurtful to others even more.

The best thing to do is report them & just don't respond because that's the attention they want. The less we react, to them, the sooner they'll fade away.

Totally agree with this as well. But it's like the popular myth, people like to act tough or seem like a bully behind a keyboard. If you met them in real life, they probably act totally different. I have no respect for people like this. They try to have fun at other people expense, which is just selfish. No different than from the guy who pulls your seat out when you plan on sitting while you were in school. It's fun for him and everyone else but it really hurts you.

You have to look at as some people only come to this site to make points and to be mean and ugly. You just over look them and look towards the people that are trying to help. They will get their due one day. Sorry people were mean to you.

Right on! It makes me sick to read some of the answers the sh_ts give. Like someone who is depressed and having suicidal thoughts and the morons tell them to do it.
