If you can afford it, then it's just the right size. By my budget, that's huge. But if 225 people are important to you, then it isn't too big. But it's most definately not small.

225 is quite big. are they confirmed or is it just an invite list. I am getting married next year and we have a guest list of 120 and of course there will be some who cant make it. yet we have hired a big revamped aircraft hanger which has been modified for special functions with state of the art sound and lighting and this place can comfortably hold 500.
so now we are worried that not enough people will attend and we are trying to make the numbers up !!!

Hi, it is quite alot, you may find it hard to get a venue to accomadate for that many people, im getting married and my venue can only cater for up to 80 people and thats the biggest one in my area. Really most are to be invited to the evening do, but i suppose it cant be helped if you have a big family. I just hope you can get the perfect venue for your big day as the staff there will have to provide 225 meals and if your having a 3,4,5,6 course meal its alot of hard work. I hope you can get a venue and its brilliant if you already have got one. I hope you have a good day and it doesnt matter how many people you have as its a big day and it should be a big wedding.

That's on the larger end of the spectrum.
However, if you want 225 people then you GO for 225 people. Just don't expect them all to say yes.
We sent out 110 invites to about 225 people. We have a crowd of 80 coming right now.

I think it's a lot for a British wedding. The issue is though, do you really want each of these 225 people at your wedding. Do you like them? Are they important to you. You could have 10 family and friends who are important to you, and the rest are aquaintances. In this case, you need to think who you WANT there.

It's considered "above average." It's about what I am having at my reception and it'll be the biggest reception I've been to out of the last 4 weddings I went to.

I don't think so. You have to take into account the fact that probally 25% of those people won't come.
Look at you list and ask yourself if these people are people that you know and want to be at your wedding. Not people that your parents want you to invite. Don't try to keep up with the Jones' It's not worth it in the end. You will spend the whole night talking to people tha you really don't know and will miss out on having fun at your wedding.
In the end its your decision.

We'll have about 160 when you consider daytime and evening and I consider that to be pretty big - bigger than I wanted really!
But at the end of the day, does it matter whether 250 is big or not? Do whatever makes you happy on your wedding day.

Big enough.
I had me and my husband at our wedding then three weeks later 10 people to a sit down reception. It was sssooo hassle-free.
Whatever the size - don't let it get you hassled - it's your day to enjoy yourself.
