No.
This notion of suicide being unforgiveable is a Catholic Church edict. It appears nowhere in the Bible.

It's not in the Bible.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly says that people who commit murder against themselves may possibly be granted forgiveness by God -- especially if there are mitigating factors such as severe emotional distress or mental illness.
The Church would not have such a teaching, if there were a Bible verse saying that suicide was unforgivable. The Church does not hold any teachings that would so blatantly contradict the Bible.

No. But self murder is against the Commandment not to murder.
Catholics believe suicide when committed in full knowledge and deliberate consent is a complete turning away from God (a mortal sin) and will send a person to hell.
There are 3 conditions of a mortal sin: grave matter, full knowledge, and deliberate consent.
While suicide (or any kind of murder) is always a grave matter, people who commit suicide may not always have full knowledge of what they're doing. Drugs can definitely impair one's thinking, as can other things, such as diseases, intense pain, or anguish.
Therefore, suicide is not automatically treated as a mortal sin.
We are commanded by Christ not to judge others so we leave final judgment to God who alone knows each person's heart.
With love in Christ.

No there is no mention of suicide being an unforgivable sin.
There are two mentioned in the Bible
1. the grieving away of the Holy Spirit. When we do that we will no longer be under conviction and will not ask forgiveness for our sins
Mth - mentioned above
Mark 3:28. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29. But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
2. the things we do not forgive others of....
Mark 11: 25. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26. But IF YOU DO NOT FORGIVE, NEITHER WILL YOUR FATHER which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
LUKE 6: 37. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: FORGIVE AND YE SHALL BE FORGIVEN:
38. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Suicide is Murder----Self Murder----just like Murdering somebody else, only you Murder yourself.
That's all. No mystery.
Murder.
You can be forgiven of Murder.
Now some people say that you don't have time to ask forgiveness and repent so on.
I think most People say something BEFOR they do it.
And what if they drink slow poison?
GOD is LORD over TIME, and can stretch a Second into any amount of Time HE want's to, to have Time to Talk to the Man?
THY SHALT NOT KILL. (murder)
EXODUS---chapter 20 verse 13
The UNPARDONABLE SIN is something else's Entirely.
Did you know that Blasphemy of the HOLY SPIRIT dosen't send you to HELL, unless it is in the Form of Not Getting Born-Again to Begin With (you never get SAVED, Spirit Recreated).
It won't be forgiven either, in the Next World.
Ditto............ be careful what you "say".................

Keep looking, you will not find it. There is nothing in the Bible that says suicide is an unforgivable sin. The only unpardonable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. (Matt:12:31)

The unforgivable sin is speaking against the Holy Spirit. It was mentioned when Christ healed someone and some people in the crowd said that the healing was from the devil instead of from God.
I don't want to define it further - some people on here might feel bad.

Hi Penny,
There is no such injunction in the scriptures. I believe that the reason it might be considered unforgivable, is that you might have a little trouble repenting of the act of murder, after you're dead. Suicide, is an abomination in the eyes of God. It is a reflection of the fact, that you have completely given up on God, and lost all hope. Imagine the pain of having your child, whom you have raised, cared for, and loved since birth, destroy themselves. For what? What in this pathetic world, could be so important, that you need to murder yourself to get around it? When a person reaches that stage, they are about as spiritually bankrupt as you can get. It is God's strongest desire, that we return to Him, as His loving and obedient children. He wants to be with His family. He loves us on a level, that mortal humans cannot comprehend. The loss, of even one of His potential children, is the cause of much suffering and sorrow in the Kingdom of God. How many of your children would you like to lose to suicide? God feels the very same way. Once a person has killed themselves, they are forever separated from life, since they now, can never choose to make God their Father.

I think the notion comes from the fact that you are committing murder and after you do it you can not ask forgiveness.
It is not spelled out any more clearly.
Where do you work?
Hey bill, go ahead. I won't feel any worse than if you told me it was bad to speak against the tooth fairy.
Julia, she said in the "bible". Nothing to do with the catholic church.

Luke 12:10
"And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven."
There are also verses parallel to this one in Matthew and Mark.
To hate the Holy Spirit is unforgivable, as Genesis tells us, each human being has a bit of the Spirit in them, as that is how we were created; God breathed His Spirit into us. If you kill yourself, you are hating that bit of Holy Spirit that is within you, that thing that gives you life, because you hate your life. And that is unforgivable as the verse above tells us.
