I TOOK A LOOK AT SOME OF THE ANSWERS BEFORE ANSWERING.
THERE ARE A LOT OF BENIGHTED PEOPLE WHO ANSWERED A QUESTION ON A SUBJECT THAT THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF, AS A RESULT SOME PRETTY STUPID ANSWERS.
First it was not possible for his return before Israel became a nation again.
The number of earthquakes has been increasing every decade since 1900.
Where was AIDS before the 60's?
Wars within nations has escalated over the last half century.
At this point in history nothing more has to take place before the return of Christ.
The war in the mid-east has been predicted for thousands of years.
Nations have been trying to exterminate Israel for thousands of years, without succeeding at the same time those same nations no longer exist.
They took the Bible out of schools in the sixties, and the crime rates have increased exponentially since then, morality has gone into the toilet since then also.
The Bible's prophecies have all come to pass and not one error, based on it's perfect record I chose to believe that it will continue in the future. So you do what you want but I am waiting for the rapture, could be as soon as Oct., if not this year maybe next year. He said to be looking up and to be ready, for others he will come as a thief in the night.
I highly recommend that all who do not believe this should buy or rent the movie/book "LEFT BEHIND"
JOHN 3: 3-5

Of course the world is changing, when does it not? There has always been wars and naturals disasters, these are far from new. From the studies I have done recently in college, violent crimes are down. You need to look at facts and not the news for information. So whats the "new" change going on in the world today? Wars have been going on non stop forever, just in different parts of the world. Most of them not worthy for news coverage. Your question does not follow you text.

I think you'd better stop worrying about the Heaven you may get to and start thinking about how you can make Earth a Heavenly place. If you're so worried about the "heinous crime" and "downgrading of values" (I disagree on that point) than do something about it--Pick up a pen and paper and write your representatives about the specific issue(s) of concern to you. Go VOLUNTEER to help others in need. Support SECULAR charities that are working on the issue(s) that concern you. DO SOMETHING TO MAKE A HEAVEN ON EARTH instead of worrying about making it to some ulitmate heaven. PEACE!

I'm sure people said the same thing years ago. I was told this same stuff when I was younger- "He is coming." Personally, I don't believe it, so... Even if I did believe in Jesus and was Christian, I still don't think I would believe that he was coming any time soon. Personally, if he did come and show himself, I might have a change of heart- if it was too late at that point, and he was going to send me to hell than I guess that would be my fate. I'm not going to let a fear about something that is just one group's belief take over my life.

There are always wars, war rumors, natural disasters, and henious crimes. The only difference today is that we have better communications methods to spread the bad news. As for "downgrading our values", if by that you are speaking of accepting people who are different from ourselves then I do not see it as a bad thing.
Christians have been howling for centuries about the imminent return of Jesus and it hasn't happened yet. I refer you to http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/9941/ for a long list of doomsday prophecies. Not one has come even close to happening.
Define "soon" and maybe we'll have more to discuss.

Oh, I want to see Him.
Look upon His face.
There to sing forever, of His saving grace.
On the streets of glory,
let me lift my voice.
Cares all past, home at last!
Ever to rejoice.
Scripture says it will be same ol', same ol' with giving in marriage, seasons coming and going, Then the rapture takes place; (and is even now underway).
You are talking about so-called prophetic events that are subjects of books and movies. These stories are written for people who will spend money on their hunch that something is "...Rotten in Denmark."
The rapture is not going to make a blip on the radar screen of human events, even after the last Christian is gone.
Don't look at world events, look up!!!

Your introduction does not match your first sentence.....
I disagree with your statement. There has been no time on this earth that there has not been war, natural disasters, or heinous crime.
Instead of worrying about everything and putting your effort into praying to an invisible entity, why not enjoy the time you have.

How can anyone say when the Lord is coming. when you look back in history and see man's inhumane treatment of man, have things really changed that much? Wars, disasters, they have always happened. No one knows the hour when He will come.

People have always killed each other for stupid reasons. That's no reason to be surprised, and no reason for your god to somehow magically appear. And natural disasters are nothing new. And as a matter of fact, in the US, the violent crime rate has been dropping since 1995.
Don't get excited about your rapture just yet.

The history of mankind is filled up with wars, human disaster, an so on. The Messiah has not yet come, and probably hasn't come in a 1000yrs from now. One can always hope, though ;)
