Religious people who pray are a funny group. If they pray for something and it happens they say "God answered my prayer". If they pray and it doesn't happen, they say "it was God's will and meant to be". It's so funny to me. Have you ever thought that what you are praying for just might happen anyway? If God doesn't listen half the time anyway, they why pray? Just flip a coin it's easier.

Of course God answers every prayer...and the answer is either a yes or no or later....When we ask for things and they are answered it means that they are things of necessity not only for ourselves but in helping someone else as well. But if you are praying for something for pleasure's sake, to humiliate someone or curse someone, now do you think God is going to answer that prayer? It depends on the motive of that prayer...I know of some people who pray for a big lottery and promise to help others and then start planning what to do with the money, they forget about the promise they made...God knows everything even before you ask for it...so he will definitely not answer this kind of prayer if your intentions are not sincere!

How do you know that God doesn't listen? He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present as the Bible clearly states. What if that is exactly what happens - he chooses to answer some with yes and others with no or not now? How can you prove that this is not exactly what happens? Is it easier to believe in answered prayers if they were full of magic and mysticism? Or if they were simple and profound? Faith is what is needed and if you lack it seek it and pray for it - I am sure God will answer that.

Yes He does, in fact He answers before you even pray because He knows what you are going to pray. The one thing that God does to a new Christian is encourage them with answered prayers. As we mature we are not as reliant on encouragement as we are as new Christians. About seeing your prayers answered depends on you for it is written, "you receive according to the measure of your faith." Those with little faith get little results, as without faith you can not please God. Understanding God's word means that you know how to pray according to His will, and certainly your prayer will come to pass. The Bible also says, "The prayer of a righteous man availeth much." So for an unbeliever the results would not be the same as a believer who are made righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. The timing of the appearance of the so called goods or events is a matter of you knowing how to receive from God, and this comes through a personal relationship with Him.

I used to raise the same question as this person has asked. I always believe things by 'reasoning'. After eperimenting the Biblical truths, I now want to shout that God is prayer-answering. I see this supernatural thing happening in my day to day life. Every problem, anxiety, doubt is being answered, when I pray to Jesus Christ. I have keenly observed that even delayed answers and negative answers proved to be the best for me. I have even coined a slogan for myself as "TELL JESUS", which is always big in my mind and for anything and everything I just talk to Jesus Christ.

Aaah - that means that you have never had something happen in your life that was rewarding enough for you to believe that God actually does answer prayers...

Maybe you should try it sometime? God does answer - not only that, He provides endless possibilities - He makes things happen that no human being can ever do and I have proof - God has done so many 'miracles' for me in my life and I know that those things that I asked Him for and He didn't give it to me - were not given for a reason and I'm a better person, not having them!

AMEN!

I can see that you don't understand the real purpose of prayer. It isn't to ask God for "stuff". No the purpose of prayer is to conform the believer to the will of God. Prayer brings us closer to our Lord. That's why we pray if you don't wish a close relationship with Jesus Christ don't pray.. It is my duty as a christian to tell you of the Joy and Life that are in Christ. If you trust Him your sins will be gone, you will have real peace, and the Lord will write your name in the Book of Life and with Him in heaven you will have more Joy than you can imagine.... Jim

God answers prayer. Sometimes He says no.
The Bible is very clear that whenever two or more are together and are of one mind about something, it will be done. The issue is getting 2 or more people to be in complete agreement and of one mind about something. This rarely happens.

As much as I hate to admit it there is some basis for the "power of prayer"...There were studies cited in here that were conducted using the scientific method to see if prayer indeed had any effect...To my surprise it does...Yes it's hit and miss but it's better to send positivie energies out to the collective conciousness (prayer) than not. PEACE!

Since you don't believe in God, then he would not be talking to you. But to Christians he is always answering prayer. He takes care of us and talks to us all the time..

Prayer is comforting, whether you get the desired outcome or not. God tells us to cast our worries onto him, and praying is a way to do that.
