Why men always think they are smarter than women?

Interesting to see how this question was posted only seven or eight minutes ago and has already generated about 50 answers...

Men aren't smarter than women -- nor the other way around. Why make it so damn complicated? Men are men and women are women. Men know the stuff they are supposed to know and women know the stuff they are supposed to know. Men do some things better and women do other things better. Now what I think is really useful is for each person, regardless of their sex, to be given enough chances to prove their own worth as a person, and to make use of their own abilities and knowledge, and to learn new things and to go after their dreams and to create something real from their initiatives and to get things done. That's what's important; not quarreling over who's smarter.

So if you (ie anyone) discriminate people and make false assumptions and draw hasty conclusions on people just because of their sex, then please, do us, and yourself, a big favor: grow the hell up a bit.

By the way, I am a guy and I'm sick and tired of listening to stuff like "men are all the same", considering I have spent my entire life trying to be a better and better person and to stay true to my damned principles of ethics and stuff nobody seems to care so much about anymore. Please tell me I'm wrong.

I have never harmed any woman. My feelings, however, have been hurt by a girl; however, by what right can I judge other girls as equal to the one who's hurt me? And why should they harm me emotionally by assuming that, just because I happen to have a male reproductive organ, that they can know what's in my head and guess what my intentions are and deduce what makes me be the way I am? Something tells me that this is not very fair. In fact, that it's not fair at all.

I think that men are smarter the women in some instances and women are smarter than men in some situation. Im pretty sure that i woman can instinctively take care of a baby better than a male, but I mean you will rarely find a woman excelling at what society considers "man stuff"....

Most men think they are smarter than women because of the way they were raised as a child. In most men's family lives they had a dad that did everything for the family or they became the man of the house and they took care of a lot of things. When little boys see their dad's doing things like going to work and paying the bills they assume that as their role, the dominant male. When little boys become the man of the house they actually have the role as the dominant male. The dominant male type is always right and he doesn't like to be proven wrong.

Not all men think they are smarter than women. That kind of men are dull and primitive. There are no real proof for that, and in fact, most of the high rank in my school are girls. But if you say men always think they are stronger than women, that is true, since it's biological.

So only primitive one that still thought that women are more stupid than men. Men and Women are equal in brain.

It doesn't help that for hundreds of years, women have tried
to make their men believe that they were smarter because
a smart woman was considered threatening to a man's
masculinity. You wouldn't get married (and procreate) if
you were too smart.

With the advent of feminism, at least some of that goes away.

However, consider the iconic dumb blonde - her beauty and
the fact that she doesn't threaten anyone's masculinity makes
her the desired catch. It is still very much a part of Western
culture.

However, as married people know, you can't hide your
intelligence forever and intelligence takes different forms.
For instance, some people have phenomenal memories but
can't analyze what they remember.

Are they intelligent?

Are you intelligent if you don't know that your car keys are
in your hand and you can stop looking for them now?

I read that while there are more male geniuses than female geniuses, there are also more male idiots than female idiots. Or in other words, women are clustered tighter to the average than men are.
My experience from high school on is that women are smarter. And I know at least one man who'll admit believing that.

Lady I dont think i am smarter than women at all.. If i thought i was smarter than women why would i have a woman for a therapist and a Dr. HeII most women are a lot smarter than me. Well, not to sound arrogant, but statistically it's true. If you are talking about the sciences, that is. How many women do you see in computer science, physics, or higher math classes? However, women are "smarter" than men in areas such as relationships and emotions. So really it depends on your definition of intelligence - is it just memorization of facts, or is it knowing how to live?

Because, they just take the wheel. They may not be smarter than some women, or vice versa, but in reality, men have more of an ego, and more that they think they need to prove. I like women that can compete with me.
