It's not a matter of the working well together, it's the fact of the intentions of those people building the tower together. (You have to read the old testament in it's literary genre, which is somewhat like a story. The Hebrews have different genres in which they write...poems, history, that kind of thing. Not taking away that it is the word of God.)
It was the fact that they were trying to make themselves great without any acknowledgement to God, who had mercy and promised to not flood the earth again two chapters before. You have to see that it's not just about that one particular instance. It's goes back to the covenant (promises) that God made with Abraham.
God made a covenant with Abraham saying that He (God) would multiply Abraham's descendants, give them land, and they would be His people and He would be their God if Abraham continued to believe in Him, while all of the nations around him worshipped idols.
It is out of this covenant with the Hebrew people that God was working from. God was trying to keep the people of this covenant from trying to be self-reliant, but to keep depending on Him. (That would defeat the whole purpose of having a Sovreign God, right? and break the covenant that they made together.) So from a perspective of the covenant, the people would not be keeping their end of the covenant that their father (Abraham) had made with God before them.
A lot of time people read the Bible straight on for what it is and question it without really finding out what's going on. You have to read the bible genre in it's context.

The tower was called the "Tower Of Babel",not the Tower of Babble.
Genesis 11:
And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. 6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. 7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. 9 Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
If the tower was completed and did reach into heaven, the people would become vain and boastful about their work, therefore, they would claim nothing is impossible as long they agreed and understood each other. The basic belief is they would look to themselves and think they no longer needed God.

It wasn't 2000 years in the past, it grow to be before some hundred years after the Flood, perhaps 4 or 5000 years in the past. They have been development a tower to the heavens, to no longer heaven. huge distinction. "To the heavens" means severe up. They needed to construct the tower to fulfill their egos, to make a recognition for themselves, and that they made God take a lower back seat. This primitive way of existence had the technologies for an extremely-severe tower, so as that they weren't all that stupid. They have been Babylonians, so as that they did no longer write the Bible. Moses wrote Genesis plenty later, it incredibly is the place the story comes from. Sacred custom grow to be as substantial to the Hebrew human beings as grow to be the written be conscious, and truths have been heavily preserved there as nicely. The bible isn't a historic previous e book, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it does incorporate historic previous. The Bible paints historic pix, it does not provide historic money owed. huge distinction. It teaches truths, and it doesnt shop in mind that nit-choosing little information dont constantly traditionally adventure up.

God punished those who built the Tower of Babel because they had turned their backs on Him and decided they didn't need Him anymore. They refused to acknowledge Him as God the Father Almighty, despite everything He had done (including creating mankind in the first place), so He issued a reminder of who is really in charge.

I think that you mean "Babel". According to Genesis, it appears that mankind was under standing orders from God to spread out across the entire Earth and fill it, not to settle all in one spot. Why? I don't know, maybe God was worried about environmental devastation.
It also appears from the text that the motives of the people at that time were bad; they wanted to build a tower for their own glory, to satisfy their own pride (Gen. 11:4). Since the Bible consistently teaches that God hates pride, most people assume that God broke up the world's first "superpower" because he was upset at their pride.
Notice that verses 5-7 imply that God was also trying to limit mankind's power. Perhaps God was worried that if mankind became too powerful, we would destroy the Earth.

at the tower of babble man as a race came together to build a place that would allow them to get to heaven in their thinking. they thought that by building a tower that its top would reach heaven they could be equal to god and come and go from heaven as they pleased without god or as equals with god for this reason god confused their languages and thus scattered them

The story is found in Genesis 11:1-9 as follows:
1 Now the entire earth was of one language and uniform words. 2 And it came to pass when they traveled from the east, that they found a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there. 3 And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and fire them thoroughly"; so the bricks were to them for stones, and the clay was to them for mortar. 4 And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered upon the face of the entire earth". 5 And the Lord descended to see the city and the tower that the sons of man had built. 6 And The LORD said, "Lo! [they are] one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they have commenced to do. Now, will it not be withheld from them, all that they have planned to do? 7 Come, let us descend and confuse their language, so that one will not understand the language of his companion". 8 And the Lord scattered them from there upon the face of the entire earth, and they ceased building the city. 9 Therefore, He named it Babel, for there the Lord confused the language of the entire earth, and from there the Lord scattered them upon the face of the entire earth.
Now we have different languages, and the people are moving and inhabitited other parts of the world. So now everybody is scattered and not congested to one area

Good question.
The point we should notice however, is that they were working together AGAINST GOD! They were uniting to fight against God. If he hadn't done this then there would eventually come a time when all men would have to be destroyed because they are fully united against God and being led by the devil. God told them to not do this since he will not flood the earth again but they rejected that and decided to do their own thing this would eventually lead to open rebellion against God.
God in is infinite wisdom and love did this to save them.

If you read the account in the Bible, you'd see that the people were trying to get to heaven by building the tower. Their goal was to physically reach heaven, when the way to heaven isn't a physical path. God confused the languages to try to get them to refocus their efforts.

He destroyed the Tower of babble because if man would create something to touch the heavens they would feel that they are god themselves. God he a jealous God he wants everyone to serve him not a tower and not themselves.
