Many many countries are significantly multilingual. In the UK we have English, Welsh, Scots and Irish Gaelic in addition to Urdu, Punjabi, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese etc. Most of these languages have broadcasts on satellite channels. Only the smallest countries are completely monolingual. The good news if you're travelling is that most large hotels have English speaking satellite channels -- even if it is just CNN and ESPN.

I don know how 'multiracial' malasyai is,. but from what i heard (people who've been there) they say its not uncommon for a person to speak more than 3 languages at times!

American tv is the primetime lineup, followed by Mandarin, cantonese (HK), Korean, Malay, hindi, Tamil, Spanish (telenovelas), Indonesian, Japanese, Arab, etc. The news is made in English, Mandarin Chinese, Malay & tamil, which are Top 4 languages there
