Some facts for you:
-Only 2.2 to 15% of dogs and 0.2 to 3% of cats brought to shelters are placed in homes
-21,563 dogs and cats were euthanized in Chicago alone in 2005
And that's just to get you started. From what I understand, there are over 100,000 cats euthanized EVERY DAY in the US by shelters and associations.
There are a lot of people that breed for money or a bigger income. A good breeder will breed an excellant line to further carry on the "quality" of the breed. NEVER for money!
In my opinion... if you don't have the experience by talking to breeders, you shouldn't just try to breed on your own. And if you're trying to get professional advice from a chat room... you're an idiot.
I think maybe that's why people are hard on certain questioners in here... I mean come on, I saw a woman on here asking if she should go to the hospital or call her doctor if she was having really bad cramps in her pregnancy. Would you ask a bunch of strangers in a chat room for advice on saving your unborn child? Do you think many Doctors hang out on sites like these giving away free medical advice?
I believe there are some good questions asked here but I have seen more stupid than smart questions. Some folks goof around with their questions but there are a ton of stupid people here that instead of asking the question, should use their time more wisely and look it up on a professional site rather than a chat room. I mean, hey, they're already on the net!
As Ron White said... Ya can't fix stupid! Maybe, just maybe, those people asking questions on here deemed stupid by some, just need a hard slap of reality to get them on track!
A wise man once said, "The only stupid question is one that goes unasked"... I used to agree with that philosophy... now I don't!

There is a lot to breeding that can save the animals a lot of suffering and some people a lot of heartache. They should do their research before getting involved and if you had to put down otherwise healthy animals, simply because there are too many and not enough homes, then you would say the same thing. If they really cared about animals, they would have found out before they let the cat get pregnant and put it at risk in doing so.
Animals have feelings too, would you like it if you had to give birth and the person delivering your baby didn't even know how babies were made?
If they're going to breed then do it responsibly and do it right because that's how all those unwanted pets end up in the shelter, no one took the time to think about it.
Leaving animals entire leads to other health problems, reproductive infections cancers and other risks. Indiscriminate breeding practices lead to viruses, inbreds, genetic mutations, suffering kittens, dead queens, poorly socialised animal that end up in shelters because they have undesirable traits or behaviour or are agressive because of breeding from faulty lines etc... and the pets aren't getting adequate veterinary care. Many of the questions on here are where the pet is already pregnant and they have no idea. It's all about being a responsible pet owner.
The other thing is, if they're just starting out as a breeder, there are resources with the various clubs they are affiliated with that provide the information they need to get started.
Pet Overpopulation Statistics
An unspayed female cat, her mate and all of their offspring, producing only 2 litters per year, with 2.8 surviving kittens per litter can total:
1 year: 12
2 years: 67
3 years: 376
4 years: 2,107
5 years: 11,801
6 years: 66,088
7 years: 370,092
8 years: 2,072,514
9 years: 11,606,077
An unspayed female dog, her mate and all of their puppies, if none are ever neutered or spayed, add up to:
1 year: 16
2 years: 128
3 years: 512
4 years: 2,048
5 years: 12,288
6 years: 67,000
Don't contribute to the tragedy of homeless cats and dogs. Breeders don't let their prized, expensive queen get out and get possibly mated. Breeders usually get into breeding by showing and they are in touch with other breeders to ask BEFORE they do it. If you're in financial trouble, the shelters will desex for a donation, there are really no excuses. It's just irresponsible. PETS ARE NOT DISPOSABLE
And it's tiring seeing the same questions over and over and over again and responding nicely.

The fact is that feral cats are a major problem in rural areas, because people don't want to spay or neuter their pets. They just let them have cute little kittens that end up being given away, or abandoned out in the country, where they can eat pheasant chicks, young rabbits, or any number of animals.
Do the cats a favor and have them fixed, or people like me will fix them with a load of #4 turkey loads. From what I have seen, there is plenty of breeding stock.

They have absolutly no business breeding their cats in the first place!!!! There are many many unwanted cats/kittens living in shelters for them to be increasing the problem. people have got to understand what they are doing to our society and what they are doing to poor homeless cats living in shelters. sure, they'll give all the kittens away to good homes when they're ready, but remember this: whoever adopts one of the their kittens could have adopted a poor homeless kitten in a shelter. instead they adopt that kitten that was bred and the kitten at the shelter has been euthanized because nobody wanted it!!!!!!! do you really like that idea? hmmm...? I suggest that you do a little research before you inform us that we're the ones being wrong. NO DECENT HUMAN BEING would choose to breed their cats knowing the overpopulation of unwanted cats/kittens!!!!!!!! THIS GOES FOR DOGS TOO!!!!!

well if you want to be a breeder you should read up on it first but I think most of the people that ask questions about that (Not saying all) are ones that let their cat outside and the cat gets pregnant.

I guess people are afraid that eventually your cat will escape and become pregnant with their own, or something like that.
Don't worry, I'm against that cruel torture too.
