You need a tighter sealing container, and you might want to consider putting in a slice/chunk of apple in the container...the moisture from the apple will keep the interior of the container moist, keeping your brownies and cakes moist.
Also, for cakes, even if in a good container, you should put some plastic wrap on the edges that have already been cut.
Good luck.

Foil doesn't make a tight enough seal. Pyrex makes a set of rectangular glass cake pans, the regular 9x13 and a 7x11. They have tight sealing snap on lids and that is what I use. The cakes and brownies never dry out because the air doesn't get to them. You can also stack them on top of one another with the lids on if you make something in both. The 7x11 is perfect for a family size box of brownies. The cool thing with the glass too is that it cooks more evenly and is less likely to stick. I got the set at Wal-Mart.

I would try to not store them directly in the pan. Buy an airtight type container, like tupperware, that has a cake lid. It'll be much more of a close seal than just foil.

Put your brownies or cake in a sealed cake platter with a dome on it .if you cut up the brownies and arrange them on the plate they still will not dry out. In my house they never last that long anyway ha ha

How long to you store them? Not sure about cakes, but brownies keep very well frozen (as they are generally moister). If you need to store for a long time, try freezing them and taking them out 24 hours before needed.

cakes and brownies will eventually dry out regardless of how you store them. There are a variety of plastic containers that will allow your goodies to last longer. If they do dry out, warm them in the micro and serve them with a scoop of your favorite ice cream.

Why don't you try putting them in a tupperware container with a nice sealed lid.... keeping them in the pan might be what's doing it and also the foil around them isn't air tight.

Store cut brownies/cookies in a good old Ziploc type bag, and wrap cakes closely in several layers of clear wrap, don't refrigerate and they will keep in definately.

put them in a Tupperware box, (they do make special ones for cakes) and do not refrigerate them. Of course this means, they will only be good for a day or two, but it will help keep the moisture.

Sounds like you may cook them a tad too long.
