I take Lamictal and it has helped me so much and doesn't cause weight gain.

Lithium or lamotrigine? It depends on the DX and the degree. Always popular with Bipolar disorder and I heavily stand behind it for that. As long as you get get quarterly blood checks because it is a thin line between theraputic and toxic. Depakote has many of the same bad side effects and withdraw can be as bad as Halodol. So everything has a pro and con

Lithium is tride and true, but with a lot of side effects, and long term use leads to kidney damage. I'd aim for the newer stuff if you can.

Never Lithium, try Depakote or some of the newer stabilizers.
