If your data is in column C1:C9, goto cell C10 to type the equation. The equation you are looking for is =sum(C1:C10), but there are a couple of shortcuts to get that equation also:
1. In Cell C10, you can click the Σ sign in the toolbar which should pretype the equation for you OR
2 You can hold the [alt] key down and hit the = key to get the same shortcut.
The first one is quicker if you use your mouse a lot, the second one is quicker if you don't want to move from the keyboard to use the mouse.
Hope you find this answer helpful!

Use the autosum feature. First put the cursor in the cell that you want the answer to appear in. In the menu bar there is a symbol that looks like a backwards E. Click that button then highlight all cells that you want to add up. Press Enter and the total will appear in the cell. Any changes to the column will cause automatic changes in the total displayed.

The easiest way is to click in the first cell of numbers that you want to add (your pointer turns into a big cross) and then just hold the mouse down and scroll to one cell after the last cell with numbers (this highlights the column of numbers). Then just press the funny "E" type of symbol on the toolbar at the top and it will put added amount in that last cell. Hope that is clear - it's hard to explain.

You have two ways.
If it is just a few numbers you can just go to the box where you want to put the answer and enter "=A1+A2" to get the sum of the number in box A1 and the number in box A2. As long as you don't want to add more numbers than you have the patience to type in the boxes for. this is easiest.
If it is a lot of numbers (like a whole column) you use the SUM function. You go to the box where you want to put the answer and enter "=SUM(A1:A99)", That will add up all the numbers in column A from box 1 to box 99.

In the cell below/next to the cells you want to add, select "Insert", then "Functions", then "Sum". Excel should automatically derive the correct formula from the previous cells. If not, edit the formula for the cells you want to add.
Then click "OK".
Done

Select the entire column with numbers in it plus one extra cell at the bottom(that is, select E1-E10), and click the sigma symbol on your toolbar, it should sum up the contents of the cell in the empty cell (E10).
It's the simplest way and doesn't require you to type anything.
Didn't you ask this just now?

Using the functions tools
eg. @sum(a5..g5) then format the cell to provide the number in the fashion you want to see it (right click)
in order to put in the proper cell block to add, once you see the "(" click on the first cell in the equation, drag your mouse to cover the rest of the cells then add the ")" and hit enter
GOOD LUCK!
