All church organizations are brain washing organizations. That's how they stay in business and get the $$$$$.

Uh, Opus Dei (from Davinci Code) is made up
brainwashing is a loaded term, coercing someone to believe in a manner against their true nature
but to give you a straight answer: the real Opus Dei is NOT a 'brainwashing ' organization and the Catholic Church is NOT a brainwashing organization, no matter what other failings it has

Opus Dei is a elect sect interior the Roman Catholic Church based with the aid of a Spanish Cleric. it rather is been regarded with the aid of Pope Paul II and given specific status. followers of Opus Dei have faith themselves to be extra organic and Christian than people who're not individuals.

Your premise is false, and so is your conclusion.

Since you were raised Catholic, you should know the true facts about Opus Dei:

Opus Dei is a Catholic institution founded by Saint Josemaría Escrivá. Its mission is to spread the message that work and the circumstances of everyday life are occasions for growing closer to God, for serving others, and for improving society.

Opus Dei's work of spiritual formation complements the work of local churches. People who join Opus Dei or attend its activities continue to belong to their local dioceses.

Opus Dei has around 85,000 members, both men and women; 98% are laypersons, most of whom are married. The remaining 2% are priests, drawn from the Prelature's lay faithful.

A number of Opus Dei members are involved in programs to assist the underprivileged. Supplementary educational programs at Midtown and Metro Centers, for example, have helped thousands of African-American and Hispanic youth in inner-city Chicago. Around 95 percent of the students at Midtown and Metro graduate from high school, and 89 percent go on to college (as compared to 20 percent of their peers not in the program). Similar programs exist in the South Bronx section of New York, St. Louis and Washington, D.C.

Additionally, Opus Dei members, in cooperation with others, operate one college and five secondary schools in the United States: Lexington College in Chicago, the only all-women's college of hospitality management in the United States; The Heights and Oakcrest near Washington, D.C.; Northridge Prep and The Willows near Chicago; and the Montrose School near Boston. Opus Dei also provides spiritual guidance to several residences for university students, the largest of which is Bayridge Residence for women, in Boston.

Opus Dei teaches that work, family life, and other ordinary activities are occasions for spiritual union with Jesus Christ.

How is all this to be considered brainwashing?

When was the last time you actually studied your faith? Maybe Opus Dei is for you!

It only matters who are stronger leaders. Catholic church is stronger than opus dei & opus dei is just a cult formed by few catholics who believe in certain primitive ideas.

I don't believe it is a 'brainwashing' organization.

I am protestant and am the first one to point out that the Bible says we should "Pray to God only" (Rev 19:10) while Catholics say we are not worthy to pray directly to Heavenly Father even though we were good enough for Him to send His Son to die on a cross for our sins! Catholics say we need to pray to Mary and ask her to pray for us to Heavenly Father, but they ignore the fact that Mary lived a normal human life and had three other children after Jesus. She died and was buried like any other person. How can you pray to a dead person? She has not been resurrected yet because the rapture hasn't happened yet!
