Do you mean Japan?

Well, Japan has very long history of struggling and hardworking for the sake of glory and victory. Working hard for a living is an honour for them. Indeed, they are workaholics. This value is also promoted by situation of their natural environment-extreme weather and lots of earthquakes.

Another "booster" for their development is their pride as a nation. After the shameful defeat in World War II (they are allowed to have no armed military power), they tried to redeem their pride by building economic power. And they have succeeded. Now Japan is one of the most prosperous country in Asia, even in the world. Their automotive industry is the strongest competitor for those of USA and Europe.

However, today's generation have slightly different opinion to their fathers. But these core values-hardworking, pride, and honour-remain alive.
