I live this life to improve my after-life. That is the way it works in Islam. That is why we are always tested with good and bad.
We are tested on our reaction and our patience. That is why everything we do can be a good deed. Everything in Islam is covered and everything you do can be translated into a righeous action. When you eat, you have to use your right hand, say "in the name of God", and eat the portion of food closest to you. That simple and you are rewarded. If you have intercourse with your wife you get a good deed. Other than your wife it is a major sin. You can smile and get good deed because smiling is considered charity. You can praise and thank God while your sitting and racking up good All to better your after-life. Best religion for me.

Life here is the only thing that's certain. I believe in an afterlife, but I think that what's most important is what we're doing here and now to make the world a better place. Focusing on the afterlife, when there's no way to even prove there is one, can distract us from the needs that are present right now.

I had a NDE (near death experience) about 12 years ago, and posted a link in case you don't know what one of those is. There is a afterlife. I was really upset when the angle made me come back to earth, and actually begged to stay. It seemed more important for me to stay, but it was explained to me someone on earth needed me. I still have not figured out who this person is (or was). Right now my life on earth is more important because i need to help someone.

There is no such thing of what part of your existence is better! First you had Pre Mortal Life, you don´t remember but you will one day, then Mortal Life (now), then spiritual life again Called spiritual world, there we will be waiting for ressurection, Union of this body with the spirit but an inmortal body. Then the milenium or 100 years of peace and learning then Devil comes t earth again more temptation and the very last judgement and eternal progress, you will never stop learning. At this point if you are evil you always will be. but there are much more details to it. this is a short plan so you can understand. So this life is the time for us to prepare be with God, learning and working on the development and contruction of new world, right now we are not prepared for that. So all the steps of your existence is important, however here on earth is almost the make it or break it.

The life we live now is as important as where we'll end up. When we are on earth we are able to make the desicion of where we will end up. Think about it. Which do you think is more important. Eternal fire and burning, being seperated from some of the people you might love, or decided when you live not to go there. To me, both are as important, but i think earth life makes a big difference.

The belief that there is an afterlife that is more important than life is the most dangerous, negative aspect of religion. After death we will of course be gone - our consciousness will be over. The completely unfounded belief to the contrary is why religious folks have such difficulty valuing life: belief in an afterlife necessary devalues life.

Our life on Earth is a gift. But of course how we live is important, it is important that we believe in Jesus. I mean, if you don't believe in God, then there is no consequence like hell right? Our souls were meant to live forever, where we go when we die is our choice.

Your afterlife is an gift from God, As good children we should prove ourselves worthy of such a gift. So the life you live here on earth can also a determinding factor of your afterlife.

Usually the present moment is the most important.
There are some choices that we make in this life that influence our future such as murder, adultry, selling crack to kids etc.
It is possible to "trade all of my tomorrows for a single yesterday" and come out on the short end of the deal.

No. I actually think that there is a pretty good possibility that there isn't an afterlife at all. If there was, what would we need this one for?
