When I turn on my computer (for the past 2 days) I get an error message that reads: mm_tray.exe - unable to locate component. This abpplicatoiin has failed to start because MFC71U.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the applicaton may fix the problem.

I've only had the computer about 2 weeks. It's a Dell Inspiron, Windows XP. What is mm_tray.exe? Do I need it? What should I be looking for to reinstall it if I need it? Any info is greatly appreciated.

mm_tray.exe is musicmatch software that was pre-installed on your PC. Sounds like its corrupted or a file it needs got deleted. You can either re-install it, which you will need the CD from dell (which you have to pay extra for) or remove the program.

It's the tray icon from music match. If you are not using music match (an alternative to windows media player) then either uninstall the program or run msconfig and uncheck mm_tray.exe under the startup tag.
