I don't find your question either funny or stupid. The others were wrong to ridicule you. You do not have to speak French to immigrate to this country. I live in Toronto (immigrated from the U.S. many years ago) and love it here. I do not speak French. It's common to hear foreign languages spoken in Toronto because our city is one of the most ethnically diverse in the world. You might enjoy checking out my Toronto blog which has many pictures, restaurant suggestions, etc. You'll love it here! http://thetravelzine-torontosc.spaces.live.com/

Rest assured, you do NOT have to speak French to immigrate to Canada, nor is it necessary to speak French to live in Toronto. The majority of Canadians speak English, and in Ontario, except for those folk who work for the government (where bi-lingualism is compulsory at most levels), almost everyone speaks English.
Canada prides itself on being a multi cultural country, so you will hear lots of other languages spoken, but English is still the common link between them.
Quebec is unique in Canada, in clinging to its francophone background, and maintaining a francophone culture, but it does make Quebec a more interesting place to visit.
It's unfortunate that the language question seems to have gotten skewed so badly, at least, the perception of language requirements
because it really isn't a hassle at all.

Capitolg... distinctly lots has it marvelous yet a pair of caveats... Ontario and maximum of Quebec is unquestionably nicely-referred to as correct Canada, no longer jap Canada. jap Canada is the Maritime Provinces plus Gaspee in Quebec. His remark approximately Toronto languages refers back to the undeniable fact that that's Toronto, and not manhattan or L.A., which right this moment is the international's maximum multicultural city metro section. additionally, Acadian French is spoken in far greater of the province than the northern section. The Acadian dialect is so diverse that many Montrealers whose first language is French have situation information it. Montreal is unquestionably approximately sixty 5% French and 35% English yet basically approximately each and every physique is bilingual. nonetheless, that's maximum suitable to learn some French words excusing your self for no longer understanding French to start a verbal replace. this sort of little attempt at courtey generally garnishes very lots of appreciation. contained in the touristy factors of Quebec city, even nevertheless, they're so economically based on the hoards of unilingual English-speaking human beings you may communicate English with no prefacing expression without it affecting provider to you, in spite of the undeniable fact that it continues to be superb to declare it as a parting salutation.

Toronto is OK, if you were going to Quebec that would be a different proposition, learning French would make your life easier.
