There is no place else on Earth I would rather live - I am raising my children to salute the flag, to place their hands over their hearts when the National Anthem is sung, they're learning how this nation was founded. My son & daughter go to military cemeteries on Memorial Day & place flags on the soldiers' graves & they do so reverently, knowing that these men fell in the war, serving our country. My son is a Boy Scout now & is learning his American history. This is the greatest Nation, no matter what the detractors say. No where else on Earth do you have the opportunity to achieve & succeed as you do here in America. Ask people all over the world where they would like to come & I'll bet the answer is America. Why do you think the other nations hate us so badly? Envy. They want what we have & they can't get it - not the way they go about it. We are the greatest.

America as a people is the greatest country, America needs a overhaul with its foreign policy and change it current leadership. We have damaged a once great reputation worldwide. By forcing our way of life on cultures and people that may not want or have even asked. I have seen it first hand. You can always tell an American in a outside country, We are often loud, demanding, and expect to be treated better because we are American. not to mention the Americans who have no disregard for foriegn cultures....getting drunk, acting stupid being loud and disorderly. Respect other countries You Can have a good time with out being the one people point at and say Oh He must be American.
We Have done alot of good worldwide.but in recent years the good we have built up we have torn down.........I hope future generations realize while we are lucky to have such a great nation It comes with great responsability.

America is among the better countries, though it has a lot of problems as of late. Certainly it's among the top choices of place to live, and historically as an actor on the world stage, an important positive force. Under the current government it threatens to become a serious problem for the world, but we can certainly change that.

A couple of notes for the question-asker: TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS CONSIDERED SHOUTING. You should type as normal.

(later: okay, so you meant to shout. That was a mistake: your post would be stronger if you'd simply said what you wanted to say without the shouting. SHOUTING on the internet suggests to the reader "this person isn't very bright". I'm sure that's not the impression you want to give, right? )

Adding "God bless the USA" to the end of a note asking for patriotism is a bit ironic, as that's now a slogan for those who want to reduce the United States to the status of a place like Saudi Arabia. Your point would be stronger without that.

S.' foreign places coverage over the final 30 years or so has truthfully created an excellent sort of resentment and countless different blow-backs (the Taliban taking skill in Afghanistan being one such occasion). yet that doesn't equate to "hating" a rustic and its inhabitants as an entire, you tit.

Yes it is the best, if it wasn't we wouldn't have a problem trying to limit the people coming in, we would have to build the walls to keep our people from getting out (sound familiar). We may not be perfect and on occasion we may stumble (slavery and civil rights to name a few). Not long after Sept. 11, I heard a great song or I should say narrative that was a hit in the 70s, called 'The Americans', by a Canadian named Gordon Sinclare. He spelled it out best.

All I can say to anyone, especially some one who is not a citizen, if you don't like this country and what it stands for LEAVE. No one is forcing you to stay. To all of the Barbra Streisand's, Johnny Depp's, Tom Cruise's and Michael Moore's in this country, please don't let the door hit you on the way out and make sure your ticket is one-way.

I don't know if I would say it is the greatest country, it is however, our country, we have a body of laws that allow for the highest amount of productivity and freedom of any nation, we brought these freedoms to the public arena, we have made them work. We do have problems, but we have the ability to fix those and become greater. China will fall to its own internal issues and be left smoldering, India will fall because of its cast system. Our diversity, our plurality, will succeed where the colloquialism will fail. In the end, we will have our nation back, and we will be better then any of us have seen in generations.

From economics and quality of life, to missions to Mars. We have faught disease and given aid to those in need. Say what you want about certain policies but if there wasn't America all that has been accomplished would have taken much longer.

Since I have never had the opportunity to experience any other country I am simply incapable of any real comparisons. You can't believe the propaganda. I think there are alot of problems in The US. But I don't REALLY know how they rate against the rest of the world.
